Mother in law put in a glossy red glass splashback. It looks good with the modern fittings and creamy colours. Ultraeasy to clean and no grout to age.

I looked at the glass one but think I prefer tiles .... Good link but most of the kitchens pictured have overhead cupboards, where as I have a totally blank wall

Will you be replacing the existing tiles too?
if not you should consider how it would look to have a different colour or size above them. I have tiles that cover the wall to the ceiling so no paintwork on that wall. They are uniform and cream. Previous tiles were removed for continuity.

The existing tiles are going, they are old and some are missing, what I want is a cpl of rows of tiles along the wall and then a higher row of tiles above the cook top, just not sure how it would look done that way. The pink wall is being repainted as well lol

I looked at glass splashbacks but decided I like tiles better.

I have a glass one painted the same colour as the wall.
I had to have it specially done as i did not like any other colour.
So easy to clean, a bit of glass cleaner, no tiles with grout to get grubby

You can add stuff to grout nowadays that stops the discolouration, mine will have same mocha coloured grout as the tile.
I was doing red but the other chooser didn't like it.................... he wanted black and white and I was sick of it and decided on a complete change. Everything was too white.

This gives a better idea of what I mean re the blank wall above the cooktop, thereis also a rangehood sitting in the garage waiting to be installed once the tiling is done

Rangehood
