I heard the new is - Large tiles and don't make a feature out of a splashback, make it blend to hide it more.

We just had our kitchen remodeled and although we have above cupboards,  I think bright, white tiles like we got, might look good just going about 15 inches or so above the range.  Are they going to put in a vent/fan above your stove?  It sure keeps the room from getting greasy.  Our tiles are 2 inch by 4 inch or about 5 cm by 10 cm.

Love the farmhouse sink and taps ๐Ÿ™‚ The smaller white tiles look great, they are something I had in mind but in a more off while colour to match the cupboards, I am a person who like things to blend, not really into contrasing colours.

Oooops used my other selling id  lol lol

I've had this PLAN to tile either the splashback or the bench top with miniature (1 cm square) tiles. Both areas are LARGE and I'm a bit daunted by the task.

I would instal a light grey colour or snowy white( it must be the same white as the cupboards).  I like the subway tile with the grout the same colour as the tile.

Tile height to the top of the microwave along the wall. (Perhaps to ceiling height behind the rangehood and a little wider than the widest part of the hood.)

Paint the wall the same colour as the tile.

Can you remove the cover strips on the wall and silicone the joins for an uninterrupted paint finish?

And yes, the dark pink paint has to goSmiley Tongue

I am envious of your stove.

GIven that you have such an expanse above, you are going to have to tread carefully. There is a lot of 'plain' going on above your benchtops and if you do a plain splashback (glass, large tiles etc) it could look quite sterile.

Personally I suggest something quite decorative - either mosaics or small tiles like the ones shown in the kitchen above (100 x 75mm laid brick pattern). If you do mosaics then choose a colour. If you do the small tiles then white only.

Or how about pressed metal panelling? Get a simpler pattern and have it sprayed white the same as your kitchen. In your kitchen it should only be about 30cm high with a capping and then take it higher where your rangehood will be.

The problem (if you can call it that) with your kitchen is that you don't have overheads. This means tou have 2 choices - leave the splashback low or go really high. If you lay a splashback at standard height (550-600) it could look as if your kitchen isn't finished. Or you put a shelf in where overheads would normally be (at around the 550-600 height) and tile up to that point.

The walls wont be totally plain, as this will be hung to the left of the stove, just has to get one more coat of paint. There will also be a rangehood over the stove, so again the wall wont look totally plain. The wall has been painted a very pale green, the colour doesnt

showup very well in the pics.

That's a lovely piece.

I would balance that out on the other side with some artwork (or a shelf) otherwise it will compete with your rangehood.

And after seeing that piece then I would definetly only tile very low or tile the entire wall. One or the other.
