Your fingers worked. Although Miles was a close second.
Jimmy is a specialist Asian cook. This show requires generalists. At least when individual challenges are concerned - it IS 2 strikes to be out. Which would tend to separate the cooks from the chefs.
I just hope Miles can learn to do good stuff well instead of overcomplicating it. But I doubt he'll make the top 12.

Yeah, I think you're right about Miles. His days are numbered.
I think Jimmy put up some really great food. He just couldn't handle the pressure. He likes to take his time with things. He gets flustered. I actually thought it would be a bigger scene when his sister saw him. I imagined the wailing widow. I did have to wonder if they were in fact just siblings. If I hugged my brother like that, I'd want to throw up!

This pressure test was supposed to be food for the home cook.
Why on earth did they all have to cook the whole packet of peas
for two lousy tablespoons-worth on the plate?
Same with deep frying the shallots. You don't need the whole bottle oil oil heated.
I think a lot of time was wasted on both those. Ticks me off all the time.
Wastes time and ingredients.
Jimmy's lamb was not undercooked. It was raw with raw white fat. Blerk
But 60 minutes for three courses? My heart couldn't take it
I also don't think Miles will last much longer either
Nigella was wearing her tuck shop ladies clothes tonight -
The cinch waist corset must have killed her last night

Well that was a surprise. Thought it would be Chloe or Miles.
Jimmy had some great skills but as said mostly good in the Asian arena, not enough overall experience.
I also think Jimmy has a lot more skill then his sister.
Agree with both of you (tippy n dave) especially on Nigella. Not a Masterchef but a great cook.
And I don't think she is ever a B***h, I see her more as a confused, been taken advantage of and certainly a victim of abuse type with having to survive by going with the marketing train that was presented to her many years ago.
I think she has found a comforting niche in which she can enjoy with her friends.
(Did look like she was wearing a corset)
Overall, the dishes are always interesting. Gives me new ideas.

Dave only followed me here because he's stawking (sic) me! He wouldn't be here otherwise.
I want to know what happens to the food where everyone cooks and only 5 get tasted. It's stone cold by then (what the judges taste is stone cold, which is why they taste while it's being cooked), but I'd hate to think it's just thrown out.
I do know that all the left over fresh produce is donated to local charities, so all that meat and seafood isn't just getting binned. I'd be really angry if I thought it was all thrown out when no longer needed.
I didn't think tonight was food that the regular home cook would cook. I like to cook but it's not something I'd cook. I like lamb cooked through. Mr Tippy likes it like it was on TV tonight. I would have thrown up if I had to eat even a teaspoon of that panna cotta because coffee makes me gag. I can't even stand the smell of it. The people at the coffee cart at work laugh at me when I go to pick up my hot chocolate and I have my clothes pulled up over my face.
I also don't get what the obcession with panna cotta is. It seems to be a go to for so many people. Yes, it's nice, but there's lots of other things I'd eat before that, like creme brule or a self saucing pudding.
I think the only thing that will save Miles for the time being is he manages to pull off the pressure tests because he's happier following a recipe. I'd say he'll be gone in the next few weeks though.

Only in this thread and only until series end.
I actually can't cook much more than meat and three veg, but I do enjoy MC and the takes on what real people would actually eat . Which is none of it without paying $100 a plate.

Havent watched tonights ep yet, but am glad hes gone (though I did think the sister would have gone first)
I think one of the problems is the time factor- so many of them cant multi task and work fast at the same time, and then theres the problem with being too ambitious- note to future contestants- learn skills off camera, before the competition..lol
Another problem is not thinking the way good cooks and chefs think- eg: Ive got a, b and c ingredients, what dish can I make with them?
Re Miles, Its no good putting more and more ingredients on the plate (like he did last night) if the end result looks like a taster platter, and one that looked quite awful, as well. Oh, and he cant 'plate' for ...well, you know.
I like Charlie, Zoe, Anastasia and Mimi so far..

I agree.
Except for the plating bit. I have never understood, unless you're paying $100 per plate (and are therefore pretentious), why what it looks like can ever trump what it tastes like.
