I like Masterchef better than the other cooking comps.
Great way to start this season rather than the mass single tasks they used to do.
Now every hopeful contestant gets 1 hour to cook a dish tasted by the 3 judges.
With second chance contestants cooking for a blind tasting.
24 contestants get an apron.

And there ya have it.
$250k to Sashi
$40k to Ben and
$10k to Khan

I cannot stand the suspense - had to look here.
Now at least I don't have to put up with Heston's strange creations.
Great result - thanks you two
Serious question though - can you eat the prawn heads? No way I could!

They can - they're delicious apparently.
I couldn't.

All's right with the world!!
I've been hoping for sashi to win but over the last few weeks it seemed like the judges were starting to favour Ben.
Sashi deserved his win, anyone who won 2 immunity pins must be a consistently good cook.
Tonight's cook-it was as if they reverted to the usual sort of cooking we saw from both of them in the past. Sashi with lots of flavour and Ben's a bit simple.
As for that Heston dish. It looked okay but honestly, without the revolving cushion & just placed on a plate, I didn't think it looked all that spectacular. Not worth 84 ingredients & 5 1/2 hours. I won't be making it, put it that way.
I suspect a nice slice of pav or apple pie would satisfy me as much.
i noticed the face washers round the spoons too. Thought maybe I've missed something in my upbringing, have never seen that done. but then again, I eat at the local bistro.

Stawka - They can - they're delicious apparently.
They obviously can but I prefer to get my flavour in different ways
Kopes - you fry them when you are making garlic prawns - for the flavour I guess. I rely on the prawns themselves (sans heads).
Springy - I could not be bothered with Heston's dishes. He reminds me of some dress designers who seem to design to make models look ridiculous. If they do not intend that, they sure manage to do it. He is totally ego driven imo but then I guess most top chefs have healthy egos.
Like you - give me a good apple pie or regular pav
It has been a great series with a good collegial atmosphere and lots of colour and movement (the colour mainly coming from Matt's suits lol). Look forward to next year.

I'm rather taken with Matt's style and colour. Cravats, bright suits. He's a big man so it's a brave move but looks right on him. I'm left wondering why more men aren't a bit more colourful. Must all suits be charcoal? I'm sure a cravat would be warmer in winter than a tie, too.
