I wondered that as well ..... 'n yes! the destruction of native wildlife does distress me .... but who first introduced all these animals to Au? Yep, it was humans, we as a race have a lot to answer for where animals are concerned

Many, many greyhounds are pts each yr, cause they didnt make the grade,
No they are not as the industry wont let them,(everything changed and a greyhound is not allowed to be
euthanized unless it's by vet and industry approval).
It's even changed at some tracks that a dog can't be euthanized until the vet gets permission to do so
from the racing industry,(the dog might be suffering from a broken leg or worse but the law now says the
dog suffers until they approve it).
same goes for race horses. Only a small percentage are re homed, thus if you "think" they are all now living a life of luxury, you are very mistaken.
It's actually only a small percentage is sent to the abattoirs,(most are kept for breeding and around 30% are
rehomed).
One of the biggest problems the RSPCA has is how some people look after horses,(95% plus of those are not
ex racehorses so how many of those die at the hands of humans).

A cat will kill more than 5 native animals each night, foxes add to that number,(there is an estimated 12 million
feral cats in Australia).
Then you have for killing birds only:
Pet cats kill 61 million birds annually. More than 99% are native.
So again the humans fault for not locking their pet up,(but then it's deprived of it's "natural" habitat and animal
lovers don't want that so they must prefer the 61 million dead birds),

My cat kills ZERO birds - she's never killed any - ever

Not a great fan of cats but I do believe they need to be confined, especially at night

For anyone who may be interested, there is a cat bib you can buy at selected pet shops. It is like a long triangle that velcros over the cat's collar. Our cat is always inside at night but because he caught a bird we thought we'd try one and it works. He cannot jump the fences to get out of the yard and he has not caught any more birds.
