Thanks, that's exactly my drift. Miley is young and everyone at that age has the pressure of boyfriends/girlfriends/sexuality/friends/finding your 'calling'/keeping parents happy/etc. Add on the pressure of a music career AND living in the spotlight, I think anyone would go a little wild in their spare time ๐Ÿ˜›

ok. it wasn't in her spare time though, was it?

I think she'll be ok once she really finds her true self.

She is simply trying to grow up in a very public celebrity world and stay on top of her game.  No one could go on being Hanna Montana for ever.

Angelina Jolie was an absolute shocker when she was that young but now she is an activist and UNHCR ambassador.

and i think that is precisely why her

transformation was so drastic, to break

away from being HM.

After publicly smoking marijuana and appearing in numerous scantily clad photoshoots, Parton is defending her goddaughter.

"If I didn't know how smart and talented Miley is, I might worry about her," Parton wrote in her TIME magazine piece. "But I've watched her grow up. So I don't. She knows what she's doing."

Cyrus formerly starred on the Disney Channel as Hannah Montana, an image that her godmother insists she is attempting to shed with her new shocking persona.

"She was very proud of the work she did as Hannah Montana, but people were gonna leave her there forever," Parton wrote about Cyrus. "And she was just smotherin' and chokin' in it. So she felt she had to do something completely drastic. And she did."

While Parton called Cyrus "drastic," she also spoke about respecting the budding singer.

Pa"She made her point, she made her mark, and more power to her. 'Wrecking Ball' is a great song. The whole album is great," Parton wrote. "So I'm hoping that now she can relax and show people how talented she really is. 'Cause the girl can write. The girl can sing. The girl is smart. And she doesn't have to be so drastic."

Last year, Cyrus spoke to The New York Times about breaking free from her previous persona.

"I went from people just thinking I was, like, a baby to people thinking I'm this, like, sex freak that really just pops molly and does lines all day," Cyrus previously told The New York Times. "It's like, 'Has anyone ever heard of rock 'n' roll?' There's a sex scene in pretty much every single movie, and they go, 'Well, that's a character.' Well, that's a character."

i totally agree.  she is talented.

wrecking ball is a great song.

Miley Cyrus is not being true to herself. By the way she is behaving shows that she does not know who she is.

All she is doing is following the orders of her agent to keep in the spotlight and make more money from gullible followers.

i dont quite get that.  you either like

her music or you don't.  what's being gullible

got to do with it ???

ppl get judged and bullied for ALL sorts of

reasons.  if miley's message helps even a

small number of ppl then it has to be a good

thing.   i cant see a reason to be so negative

about it.

I don't mind her music either, but I'm shocked at her antics on and off stage. Specially that show she did with Robin Thicke.

I don't think that's her true self, rather that she's been manipulated into that behaviour by people in the industry.

There are others like that, Gaga, Rhianna.

Re: Miley Cyrus

I agree that wrecking ball is a bit of a pop classic.  But she didn't write the song... It was actually written with Beyonce in mind. (Singers like Miley have an army of people that they work with) She did perform it well though. And it did get alot of mainstream exposure.

People who dont source music (outside of the pop charts) and just listen to whatever comes on the radio or tv etc, dont really know what they like imo, they are just exposed to the same group of catchy tunes over and over again and they become familiar. You think you like the music but how do you really know if you have nothing else to compare it to? Pop music is designed with a hook. It's the part of the song that is the catchiest, that sticks in your head.  All the biggest hits have the catchiest hook...

Why do these  young stars that made their debuts with Disney or the Mickey Mouse club, as kids turn into such controversial celebs? Britney Spears, Christina Aguliera now Miley.  I think they sell their souls to the industry, which in turn means they will do anything regardless of how exploitive, just to keep themselves famous.  We all know that sex sells and any publicity is good publicity...

Agree 100%. She had to get away from that baby-faced, cute young girl to becoming a young woman.

Which is all fine, but why sacrifice your dignity and self respect in the process?
