If people are choosing to immigrate here because they like what we have to offer, then I think they really do need to adapt to our established culture and laws.

Good, one of the best thing's about australia is all the different cultures, religions etc. In my opinion of course.

Well they would need to adopt to our laws anyway, culture is really anything you'd like it to be as "Australian culture" is pretty vague at best

I was more thinking about how people who wear head covers had refused to remove them for entering banks etc, or for identification purposes with police/authorities.
one doesn't have to drink or attend church to adapt to our culture, I think those analogies are a bit extreme and flippant.
