Muslims Immigrating to Australia

Do you have anything against it?

Why?

What about other religions? Buddhists and Christians, are they ok?

Re: Muslims Immigrating to Australia

Our religion is Christian yet it doesn't dominate what we eat, or our legal system, what we wear, etc, what we may or may not do.

And neither does theirs.

What's naive? Eating fish on a Friday and wearing a hat to church? Or drinking, smoking and gambling?

I think it is dependant on where you live, I was not trying to be flippant, they are obviously Christian, hard working but very noisy in the neighbourhood apparently ๐Ÿ™‚

Many of those people wearing the head coverings are deeply religious and don't drink at all, who would you prefer as your neighbour? Smiley Very Happy

I know who I'd prefer.. I lived next door to a back packers once, and there was always a disturbance... Most of the back packers we attract are Canadian, Irish or English

Islam is a bit more than just a faith. It's a whole set of religious, social, ethical and moral way of life.

That's pretty much sums up any religion

Why are we calling it "just a religion" then, as against any other?

Our religion is Christian yet it doesn't dominate what we eat, or our legal system, what we wear, etc, what we may or may not do.

Not any more it doesn't, but in the bible it says we're not supposed to eat pork, shell fish, wear mixed fabrics and men aren't allowed to cut their beards or hair.

It's not "just a religion" but it's also not a race of people, the same as Judaism isn't a race.. Sudanese is a race, Islam is a religion

Re: Muslims Immigrating to Australia

i must be a bad neighbour? I would have no clue what religion/lifestyle/whatever the people in my community have or are.

We have a lot of Sudanese families at the local shops and a sudanese family live down the road, wouldnt have a clue if they were religious, just like i wouldnt have a clue if my yelling screaming slamming around next door neighbours are, besides loud.

I dont care who comes here, just dont try and change the general way of life here, have what ever way of life you want, so long as it breaks no law
