My Mums update thread

This thread is dedicated to my Mother and her recovery.

Photobucket

On Monday the 4th June 2007, while holidaying in the UK with my Father, my Mother was struck by a van while crossing the road.

Mum spent 88 days in various UK hospitals before finally being brought home back to Australia on the 30th August 2007.

She is currently in The John Whittle Nursing Facility with brain damage

I have set up this thread to keep you all updated on her condition and her improvements and hopefully one day, Mum will be able to read it.

:-x

Not so much that I don't know exactly what to write, yes that is hard to know the right words, but I never wanted to invade your privacy.. sounds strange on a public forum I know.

When you were crying the other day it broke my heart.. I shed a few tears for you. That was my birthday and it made me realise how lucky I am in my life...

Re: My Mums update thread

aww sorry i made you sad on your birthday.

Sometimes i read back on this thread and see the meltdowns ive had and i actually get embarrased. Sometimes i dont even remember half the stuff i wrote during one.
But, this thread really, is the only place i have where i can let go and the things people write back to me....you cant imagine how much they help me in those really bad times

Re: My Mums update thread

Spoke to dad last night.
He thinks Mum has given up as she is just staring a the wall all day and has been like that for 4 days now. He says she doesnt even seem to recognise him.
He seemed ok with it. He said he always thought that this is how it would be when she had had enough and he doesnt blame her.
I didnt know what to say as when i have tried to talk about this sort of thing in the past, he has bitten my head off.
But he seems to be ready for it now.

It is sad Amy, but his acceptance will help you all, in the end.
