This thread is dedicated to my Mother and her recovery.
On Monday the 4th June 2007, while holidaying in the UK with my Father, my Mother was struck by a van while crossing the road.
Mum spent 88 days in various UK hospitals before finally being brought home back to Australia on the 30th August 2007.
She is currently in The John Whittle Nursing Facility with brain damage
I have set up this thread to keep you all updated on her condition and her improvements and hopefully one day, Mum will be able to read it.

So, next months is will be 6 years since Mums accident.
My sister tells me that Mum looks horrible.
My Dad tells me she has good days and bad days.
Last night while i was talking to Dad, he told me that the Doctors said years ago that, based on other cases similar, Mums life expectancy in this state would not be past 7 years.
But then dad said "But they didnt take into account her strong will to live"
I said "Dad, do you really think he has any control of whether she lives or dies? Do you really think she would want to live like this?
He says "Yeh, shes ok. She gets to see me everyday"
I say "And do you think she would be happy to see what your life has become"
And he says "She's fine. She thinks i am happy so she is happy. I never go up to her sad."
The other day i went Mothers Day card shopping and started crying in Big W. There are no cards that express my sadness. No cards that say "Mum, im so sad that you have been in this condition for 6 years now. I wish it would all be over for you soon". How do I give my mum a card that says Have a Happy Mothers Day?
Why do i send a card at all? Shes not there. I dont want her to be there anymore

Same here. I often use what happened to your mum as an example of why life needs to be lived to the max. You just never know what the next day might bring.
I'm a bit shocked that it's 6 years. I remember it so well. I still think you are an incredibly courageous person Amy. Your honesty and acknowledgement of your feelings and the situation you are in is very admirable. I really admire you.
