I am thinking of you today Amy, I hope your Mum is not suffering. Don't feel bad because you don't want her to survive, you know there are things much worse than death, your Mum, you, and your family have been living it for so long.

So, as expected with a country hospital, we still dont have any test results back.
So we still dont know the cause of the swollen organs.
But, we have been told that there is no way they can operate on her while her lungs are in the state they are in. Due to the two lots of pneumonia she has had, her lungs are full of scar tissue.
One benifit to her being in hospital is she is getting physio everyday and they are clearing her lungs from all the mucus built up.
But, my sister says Mums room is miserable. She has no tv so she just stares at the wall and cries. They have no chair for her so she is in the bed all day and they have no lift so they cant get her into a shower.
My sister wants her to be taken back to the nursing home.
If Mum is going to die, my sister wants her in a room she knows, with her things around her.

Is there a DNR order in place Amy?
If not, there is not much chance that they will take your mother back to the Nursing Home while they can give her Physio for the lungs. Surely that should have been done in the nursing home anyway?

I dont know about a DNR. Dad wont talk about it.
In Dubbo, there is one physio who treats all the hospital patients and all the nursing home patients. She never found time for Mum.
They wont keep her at the hospital for long. They dont have the room for her.
They are apparently going to try to get some food back into her today (she hasnt been on her feeding tube since Sunday). If she keeps the food down, we think they will take her back to the nursing home

Amy with a DNR your Dad can specify what the Doctors can and cannot do to prolong your Mum's life. I am so thankful that my late hubby did his own DNR, his greatest fear was being brought back to more pain....and, without it, the hospital is compelled to try and restart his heart.
