After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this

Bushie, I think that you could graft a couple of cherry tree buds onto your plum tree and grow both on the same trunk. (if you can get some healthy specimens from nearby) My dear mum became a dab hand at grafting once she had been shown by a friend... we had 3 different types of peaches and 2 nectarines all growing on the one tree! It was like a fruit salad all in one spot LOL!
I think (not 100% sure) that she grafted cherries onto a plum tree - that plum tree was probably the one thing that didn't just GROW for her.... she had such a green thumb that even the sticks she stuck in to support her pea plants would shoot!
Freddie, interesting hearing that cherries are good for arthritis. I am taking rosehip supplements for my hands, and they definitely help alot! I sure know if I forget and skip a couple of doses. I love cherries, so I'm sure it wouldn't matter if I double up ![]()
I'm another who can't handle the heat - my saying is you can always put more clothes on, but there is only so much you can take off before people start to complain!
No painting today - I'm a bit sore.... but then I thought would pull a few weeds in the back garden and ended up toiling away for 2 hours and now my hands are swollen as well... but the dog's garden is cleaned up! ( this is an area under a tree and along the back fence where I let some of those long bladed weeds the dogs like to eat for their digestion grow, and they can dig without getting into strife. It had been overrun by some kind of creeper. It was a beggar to remove andthen leave some of the right weeds behind!)
Now I am saying goodnight! Sweet dreams everyone

Mornin' all.
Read that we might get some good rain on the weekend in Melbourne, now that would be bliss.
Have a good day !

Good morning everyone. A nice cool morning and we must have a sprinkle as the concrete is slightly wet.
Good to see you back freddie - enjoy your day in Port Macquarie - I love that place.
aps, we are going to Mallacoota for the weekend and my OH said he thought we would be in for some heavy rain. Doesn't really worry me as we are mainly visiting people and having a break.
You were up late Tas - that cherry pie made with filo sounds scrumptious!
I'm still feeling pretty good - cramps disturbed my sleep a lot but I get that. I've got both the grandies today - James who will be 9 in 12 days and Milla will be 21 months in 2 days. They are easy to watch and when have have Milla on Tuesdays, all our time is hers.
Hope everyone enjoys their day ....

Morning to the late nighters and the early morning visitors, mmmmm cherry pie I wonder how long it would take to get to Tas's? ![]()
I'm still waiting to hear how Tomic went last night, I watched part of his game but due to the time I had to turn off the telly.
Seems like we are heading for a lovely 28deg today, nice if the humidity isn't too high.
Have a lovely day, must shower and get myself moving โฅ

Pleased you are felling better Sandy, enjoy your day with your grandies
B3 Interesting idea re grafting, it's something I must look into down the track when I get more time. I dont envy you trying to get your house ready for sale, I agree it's amazing what we will put up with until we decide to sell, then it's all systems go lol

Good morning bushie.
I meant to mention fruit trees.
We have friends who live near Stawell and when they got married they stated they didn't want gifts but if anyone did want to buy something, they would appreciate a fruit tree. It was a second marraige for both of them so didn't need the usual gifts.
He has orchards fully enclosed in netting with a total of 160 fruit trees - they live on a farm. We bought them a fruit tree with 3 kinds of fruit grafted onto it. He gives a lot of fruit, vegies and eggs away - it is where we got out chooks from. He has a chook house in one of the orchards and that's where the hens that have finished laying are kept. They have a house in there and they keep the weeds/insects down. He said we could return our chooks as they retire if we wanted to.
My favourite fruit he gives us is mulberries - I make this fruit slice and the mulberry one is delicious. Even if they're not in season when we visit, he will give me a couple of frozen packs. As someone mentioned, maybe a grafted cherry on one of your fruit trees is possible.

Punch
You can put wire mesh over the bowl, the birds can still drink but can't fall in.
You can even press the mes so it sits under the water but never deep enough to drown in.
(I used to keep Bantams).

Sandy Your friend's property sounds idyllic, all the areas around Stawell are lovely, they get similar weather to me, so little wonder his fruit trees do so well. I have a friend who is heavily into permaculture, I know she does heaps of grafting from root stock she buys,so I will have a word to her, I would love to live on a property but Mr B says no :(, I can understand why but it is still very appealing.
I dont have chooks but most people around me do, so fresh eggs are never a problem. Our reason for moving here was to try to be more self sufficient food wise, it's kind of working, but I guess after only a year I cant expect too much.
Sorry re your little chicken PD ๐
