My day

After several hours during the week clearing and cleaning up a messy garden my day started like this before and after 002.JPG

Good Morning everyone.

We first got the NBN in 2011.(Optus) Moved house and got connected again (Skymesh) beginning of last year. A great improvement on what was available before, and never had any problems with it. I don't know anyone who has.
The cost of it is a lot lower than what we paid before, per GB. As Telstra didn't have much competition their charges were very high for broadband. Now there is a big choice of providers.

B3 your invoicing problems ( sounds terrible) would be your internet providers issues rather than a problem with using the NBN broadband service?

We did have a short outage recently, and were given extra 100GB for a month by our provider.

Our problem is really with telstra - and has been since we went with them for NBN...

We were stuck with them as OH's new mobile is bundled with the home phone and still under contract... and because he works in remote areas he really has to be with telstra.

This has now been an ongoing 3 month fiasco

*sigh*

You have my sympathy... teleco's are the worst to deal with. You mentioned the Ombudsman (TIO) above, best option now.

That's a positive 🙂 our internet is great, quick and not expensive. Had a look at plans for the NBN and it will go up. Next suburb along has had connection issues (just not working; no news on when it will be fixed). The install wasn't complete. That's why I am worried...will be the same team here.

NBN really makes a differences in areas (regional, rural) where ADSL (not ADSL2) was the only option, or maybe Telstra offered ADSL2 with inflated prices as no they had competition (other isp's can't access ADSL2 at the exchange).

The NBN policy changed after the last election too. I got my last installation done with the new Govt in, but contract signed under Labor  (Fibre to the premises).

Could be more difficulties with the current fibre to the node installlations (street only).

Re: My day -

I have read that a fair few installations need finishing/fixing. Well, I shall hope for the best.

Re: My day -

Hey Bushie,  if  your very handy man is passing by my place, (I'll leave the lights on) can I borrow him for as long as it takes to build an Ark?Smiley Wink

It's not stopped raining for over 2 days.  The ground has stopped absorbing and the water has formed a few new ponds/dams.   Brighter is the fact that the humidity levels are really low and the coolness is most welcome.

In fact, here I sit with a winter dressing gown draped upon my shoulders. Perhaps I should drag out the old crochet hook and wool and make me up a shawl.  (Reminds me of the big bad wolf in Little Red Riding Hood)

No birds partaking in my Bird Bath Observation.  However, I have watched toadstools grow extremely quickly amongst the leaf mulch spread about the garden beds.

With the coolness and protracted rain period, I've done some above-and-beyond housework.  Cracked open a bottle of .......O'Cedar Oil and rubbed up some bits of wooden furniture.  Washed the windows and surrounds internally.  Now the raindrops look cleaner and more sparkly.Smiley Wink

I'll get around to luring the sewing machine from the deep dark depths of the linen cupboard and checking whether I can see well enough to thread the needle.  Better oil up the innards of that too.  I've measured up for making the TV chair upholstery.  I don't know if I'll do the piped edges.  It's so long since I've sewn.  Got to check out prices of fabric and new suitable foam for the seat cushions and backs.

Actually, thinking about it, I might just practice by making some cushion covers first.  Then if I'm comfortable with my skills, I'll then fully consider doing the bigger job.

In the meantime, I'll do a read around.  While sipping on my now cold coffee.Smiley Frustrated

Waves to all including the MIAs.  Stay safe and be as well as possible.

Re: My day -

Once an area has the NBN installed the old services copperwire landline telephone, ADSL options are removed and only the NBN service is available.

Half our town has NBN only (the part that was the test area) and the rest is due to change to NBN only, in May this year I think. So even if people 'think' they don't need the NBN, they will have no choice eventually.

I have lured my sewing machine from the cupboard. Haven't done much with it lately as too hot/himid to sit and do stuff like that... mainly going to repair a few things first.

Re: My day -

Yes, it's NBN or nothing when it's done. So if it isn't completed correctly there's no service. That's what I am concerned about...back to not worrying 😛

Had the sewing machine out too. Hemming.

Re: My day -

lol re ark, DEB, when it rains up there it rains, remember it very well.

I must get into some sewing as well, have a few bits n pieces to make before the winter arrives and they are needed

Love the smell of freshly polished timber, I do mine every so often, it's helps to feed the timber and keep it from drying out.

NBN is not on my concerned list, when it comes, it comes, cant say it bothers me greatly either way

Lovely relaxing day here today enjoying the peace and quiet

Wont be posting here much, am a bit over all the arguing, bullying, negativity, name calling that seems to invade CS there days, just cant be bothered with it anymore, more important things to do with my time these days

Re: My day -

Afternoon everyone xx

I'm into a bit of sewing at the moment too Bushie, thankfully, not actual repairs though .. netting curtains etc but so far so good.

Telstra seems to be copiously shooting itself in the foot, it used to be such a great service provider once, but in the past few years the troubles just grow and grow.  We've been lucky enough to have dumped them from everything but I understand it's not that easy for some to do that especially when there are contracts involved.

Hope everyone is having a great week xxx
