The youngest daughter of the late NSW premier Neville Wran is one of three people allegedly involved in a double stabbing that left one man dead at a notorious inner-Sydney housing commission unit block.
Wran, the goddaughter of Kerry Packer, is studying modern history, her Facebook page says.
It is not yet clear what motivated the stabbings, but it was likely the attackers knew the victims and the violence might have escalated from an argument, police said at the time.
How sad. That's a long way down for a young person born into a such privileged family.
It's thought to have been over drugs.

I caught a bit on the news last night about it Icy, as I was flying in and out, as you say, quite a fall from grace and proof that up bringing is not always associated with later behaviour.
Feel for the familys involved, awful situation all round.

You know sometimes a privileged upbringing is the most destructive.

I think it's despicable to see a headline like that.
Why not "Harriet Wran and ---------------- Charged with Murder."

It doesn't matter who the parents are, public figures, high school dropouts, alive, dead whatever, they did not commit the crime so therefore they should not warrent a mention.

this is reminding me of the new trial for one of the distant kennedy cousins...it shouldn't be associated with the family.
mind you,i have my issues with the family, but this guy's murderous (sorry,"alleged") actions shouldn't reflect on the whole family, anymore than JFK's actions should. people should be judged individually, you know?

It happens everywhere. A young guy over here has just been charged with serious assault - the headline on the front page of today's West Australian reads ."Police Chief's Son Faces Assault Charges." and inside there is another one "Top Cop's Son Held In Custody."

it's a bit sad this young womans life is in tatters and all we can do is quibble about the news headline.
Apparently Harriet had been living on the streets for weeks. When she was arrested she had no ID, no money, nothing. How did she come to that?
Hubs made an interesting observation: "at least she saw to it there was one less drug dealer on the streets of Sydney".

Are you for real?????
The young womans short but so far priveliged life is not quite as tattered as Daniel Mcnultys guts ended up
.... they were irrepairable.....
Daniel John McNulty was a father, a friend, an addict and a part-time drug dealer. But despite his many faults, the 48-year-old did not deservea to become a footnote in a celebrity story.
"Daniel was a street kid who never had any tools to live life,"
Just two weeks before his death on Sunday, Brett Fitzgerald moved into the unit with him.
Mr Fitzgerald was also stabbed in Sunday night's fatal fight, allegedly over a $70 drug deal.
Mr Fitzgerald remains in St Vincent's Hospital recovering from his injuries, but declined to speak to Fairfax Media.
The friend did not romanticise Mr McNulty's life. But he said Mr McNulty was far from a criminal mastermind.
While Mr McNulty had managed to remain clean from drugs for some of his life, he was constantly struggling with his addiction, the friend said.
Mr McNulty had spent some time in prison, the friend said, without disclosing for what, and said the victim was a "low-level drug dealer to support his habit".
"He's a bloke who just never had a chance in life, who has now [allegedly] been murdered," he said.
"He was one of many people who are swept under the carpet in life, but he wasn't bad. The height of his criminal
expertise was breaking into the odd car.
Oh dear poor poooor Harriet
