Our new 'pup' (10 months) arrived a week ago and is settling in well. She seems happy and has stopped pining for her old family although every now and then there is a bit of wimpering if she can't see where we are.
She is drinking water but she isn't eating. The only thing we have managed to get into her is small bits of BBQ chicken skin (vets idea). That is in 7 days!
We called the breeder and apparently her companion (another female her age) also stopped eating but was back on her food by day 4.
Is there anything I can do?

Cause they have saggy skin around their eyes. What you are seeing is the section of your eye when you pull your lower lid down. Fairly typical for a basset.
Hers a pretty saggy though. Vet says it is all nomal when he checked her out.

Thanks martini. If you didn't know it was normal you'd be pretty

Basset doesn't seem at all excited when she sees the rabbit through the glass doors. And the rabbit has stopped thumping and running away.
So this weekend the big introduction is going to happen...
Please don't keep me in suspense any longer.
What happened?

I worked at a location with a Basset yesterday. He kept shaking his head sending drool flying everywhere and the smell gave me a headache.
What I thought seeing, smelling it....dude should keep him outside, lol.

So cat-m and her partner at the time, brought home a big active dog that they were unable to keep.. hmm why didn't they think of the needs of the dog before they brought it home??
I remember that.

Since martini does not seem to come back to tell us about her great success in introducing her pets to each other I think we will have to guess.
My guess is (which is mine): the rabbit died from a heart attack and the dog is sulking because she wasn't allowed to eat the prey rabbit.

I'm guessing too, but a lack of response is what you get from a rabbit which has been introduced to a beagle a few minutes earlier.
Say it isn't so Martini, please?

Forget about the dogs. Here are the hyenas.
