We moved OHs parents into a nursing home today. She doesn't really want to go but recognises it's necessary, but he is very angry and is not hesitant about telling anyone and everyone he doesn't want or need to be there.
Stress levels are through the roof! Wine is helping

i would take every pill in the house rather than end up out of home surrounded by strangers

He's 92 and still very physically fit but doesn't know what happened 5 minutes ago. She is 88 and very frail and deaf but knows what is going on most of the time (except when she's doing inappropriate things with the stove top and pots of oil).
They are a perfect storm together.

Probably a relief for OH and family to make sure they're safe.
But still sad in a way.
My mum passed away waiting for a spot in a home.
She was actually looking forward to it.

stawks, it is a relief to know they are safe, and that's obviously why the family have taken this decision. But you're right it is very sad and such an unfair way to end happy and productive lives. Someone upstairs got this life cycle thing seriously wrong

I knew a lady a few years ago - she was 96
Very bright, still looking after herself, still doing charity work.
But she told me she had 'just had enough'.
She was sick of hanging around, she said
Took her another 2 years to slip away quietly.
