I have been buying things from op shops since I was a teenager. I love browsing through the weird and wonderful things you might find.
Some are better than others, sometimes it's nothing but junk and then other times you can walk out with bags of amazing things!
Who else here is addicted to op shopping, and which ones do you think are the best to buy from?

I totally am ๐ The best OP shops I reckon are the small church ones. The Salvos has gotten too big these days imo and some of the Salvos shops are run more like a serconhand shop rather than an OP shop. But all the little church OP shops around here have always got awesome bargains in them.
I'm like you, have been shopping in them since I was pre-teen most of my wardrobe and furniture is all from either secondhand shops or OP shops ๐

Me, me, me
I have also been shopping in them since I was a teenager and still do.
Firstly cos they've got good stuff for yourself and
secondly good stuff to re-sell.
Church oppies are the best
( the little old ladies don't know what they've got)
Sometimes I take pity and give them extra
Salvos are good quality,
but because they have paid managers and have to pay high rent
are a little more expensive. But you do get your half price days.
Have clothed my whole family over the years, right down to grandkids

I think they are essentail for cutting down on landfill, and providing a service to the public. Cheap goods for those on a tight budget, and the proceeds go towards supporting those in the community who are having a hard time affoding the basic necessites. It's all win win win.

I have found some great candle holders and photo frames for way less than buying new.
I also like tip shops for getting outdoor garden stuff like concrete edging and pots cheap.

When I walk into an op shop I love seeing heaps of clutter and stuff on racks and tables everywhere. Sometimes you know at a glance if the shop is going to be a waste of time, and others you know straight away that it will be worth your while digging through the piles.
Best recent score was a 50's kitchen chair for $10 at Vinnies. Someone had covered it quite badly with fake fur, and when I got it home I took off the fake fur and a gorgeous two-toned retro fabric was underneath, in perfect condition.
