I'm surprised there's no thread already about this. Is it because it's not an Australian case?

The judge said the prosecution failed to provide enough evidence. I think she said weak circumstantial, not good enough to demonstrate guilt.

I dunno, Karli ... I just think that if I was in bed with someone and woke up to hear noise of possible intruders, I would be reaching out to that other person, for a number of reasons, before I grabbed a gun.
Yes, me too. She has adjourned for the night. It was sounding like the lower grade charge might be applied and the commentators said it's then at her discretion if and for how long he will be sentenced to.

I don't get it. You're in bed with your girlfriend ... you hear noises coming from the toilet ... I dunno, but if I hear noises in the toilet, I presume it's my son. I don't know what your average burglar would be doing in the loo??? So, after I hear the noises while I am in bed, I put my arm out to see if my girlfriend is next to me ... or would it be her in the bog? Now I get that he might be a bit paranoid in South Africa, but he lived in a gated community with high security, high walls, presumably good locks on doors and windows ... why on earth would he be THAT scared???

Culpable homicide, with a very short jail term, if any.
He has been the darling of the country and from a very wealthy family.

Well, the evidence says he committed pre meditated murder.................... is that why a Judge only trial? cos I think a jury would have convicted him.

I can't help wondering what her parents think at this stage.
for me it was the fact that she had her phone with her in the bathroom that sealed it for me. who does that unless they're intention is to call someone for help?
he had to know it was her in the bathroom, if you hear a noise in the night, you check where your partner is first. He may not have intended to kill her though, possibly scare her

a loaded gun firing into a locked room, small room at that, would be more than intent to scare................imo
