Oscar Pistorius

I'm surprised there's no thread already about this. Is it because it's not an Australian case?

Re: Oscar Pistorius

I don't place any credence on most journalists newspaper articles about OP or anything else, we all know most don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

I don't understand why OP would throw away all that he had worked so hard for in life by doing such a thing. It is certainly a great tragedy and I can only imagine the heartache for all concerned. 😞

A good story?   The trial was live streaming.  Only the facts.  No stories

His trial had heard that in the early hours of Valentine’s Day last year Pistorius fired four hollow point pistol rounds into a locked toilet door, hitting Steenkamp and causing her head to “explode” and “amputating” her arm.

Happy Valentine's Day, Reeva

Re: Oscar Pistorius

Appalling that this person could get away with murder.

Is this the new excuse for murdering a women like the  girls off the balconies murders or the women off cliffs murders and the drowning scuba diving women murders.

What will the new excuse for murdering a woman, partner, wife, girlfriend be I wonder.

It's called a "crime of passion".  These men (and they are mostly men) don't sit and think over their lives then decide to do it, they act in rage,

You can still watch the trial from day one if you don't believe it.  All six months of it.

Bit different but same result...dead girlfriends - women arguing with boyfriends/partners, fleeing from them and falling or being thrown over the balcony, has happened a lot in Aust. recenlty.

One every week.

If this was happening to men to this degree, there would be loud campaigns and lots of money allotted to them.

Re: Oscar Pistorius

These men are controlling and go into rage if they are not obeyed.

Unfortunately wrist slaps are all that is available until it goes beyond the point of no return, and then it is too late. In most cases the girls are too afraid to leave because of the threats of what will be done to them and theirs. These guys are little charmers and people say they couldn't imagine him doing that, or he sweet talks his way out.

Even when families are aware, short of hiring a hit man there is nothing that can be done. The police will do nothing, or if they do the court does the smack smack $500 fine, just put it on spur you'll be right mate.

That's here in Aus. I don't know about elsewhere.

I used to chat with a lady on the US boards way back. Her daughter-in-law shot her son dead and claimed she thought it was an intruder. She was convicted.

We need a bit of tough justice here.

As for OP, he will also be right mate. You just can't incarcerate someone who is going to keep your country's sporting prowess going.

Re: Oscar Pistorius

Can't see them getting much more national "sporting prowess" out of Pistorius. He'd probably be way out of condition by now, and he's not getting any younger.

So does that mean he could do time.

Well I don't know, Channys. I'm just saying he's probably past his prime for any more bladerunner glory.
