Pandemic over soon ...

with another day another 30,000+ cases within NSW the pandemic will surely end soon as they run out of the unvaccinated or will Camberra run out of unvaccinated first ?

Fortunately the South Africans were correct in evaluating Omicron as being highly infectious but relatively mild - almost effectively the fourth vaccine for those fated to contract

" Well accepting the mantra that the pandemic is a pandemic of the unvaxxx'ed "

"well accepting the mantra" has a questioning tone that implies after first evaluating the mantra and agreeing , however my statement does allow for those to disagree ( Including maybe myself )

You mean the REAL world, as opposed to keeping up appearances in Anti Vaxxer land?

Re: Pandemic over soon ... pfffffft!

It has been posted often enough that vaccinated people can and do get the virus, especially the Omicron variant. I even heard at the PM's presser today that people can get reinfected with this Omicron variant.

General comments only, not directed at K1ooo ( who usually takes a considered approach to his  posts )

Not just Omacron. There are large numbers of Double vaxxed infected with Delta in hospitals too. I noted repeatedly on another thread several months ago that this would occur but all of the regular little group on these boards Poo pood the heck out of me ( as usual ).  It appears that now reality has struck my comments where vindicated and the haters have finally come around to accept my thoughts where correct .....😉

Which leads back to the original point several months ago. As noted in my original posts, vaccination requirements in some high risk settings such as hospitals and nursing homes had merit and where required, but recent history shows " No jab, No entry " in many other places was never about keeping workers and patrons of establishments safe from the unvaxed. It was always about social blackmail and forcing people to accept a medical procedure, often against their will.

Governments lied to us and the stupid sheeple grabbed the government propaganda lines and ran with them, reguratating them ad nauseam on social media etc. ( including these boards )

If there's two things to take away from all of this it is that governments will go to any lengths ( including lying and introducing social apartheid into Australia ) in  order to control the people and many seemingly normal, hopefully intelligent people are naive enough to go along with it.

That's how facist governments gain control, even in seemingly safe countries like Australia ( Cue Dan Andrews )

Chameleon: There are large numbers of Double vaxxed infected with Delta in hospitals too.

There were, but the statistics show that overwhelmingly, the seriously ill in hospital were the unvaxxed.

If you look at those ICU stats, you'll notice that the great majority of patients wee unvaxxed and that was at a time when Omicron had virtually taken over (or at least that was the case here in Vic).

Even those just in hospital, it may look 50-50 but given that over 90% of adults have been vaxxed, for it to represent vaccination having no effect, then the stats would need to be 90%, not 48%.

Omicron is different in that I think vaccinated people are more at risk of getting it as vaccines only provide partial immunity to it. The type of vaccine a person had can also make a difference (or so I read). It seems AZ might be one of the most effective against omicron.

Omicron has also hit at a time when a lot of people were needing booster shots but had not yet had them.

But I also read that because of the many variants, yes, there is a higher risk of re infection. So having the vaccination last year or even getting omicron now is no guarantee you can't get it again in the future. I read that some boosters in future will be tweaked towards protection against omicron.

Delta, from the information we are hearing, was often a more serious version of covid than omicron but the people in hospital with delta were overwhelmingly the unvaxxed. I know of 2 people who died of delta in Box Hill hospital back in early Nov. At that time, there were practically no other vaccinated patients in the ICU ward.

Re: Pandemic over soon ... pfffffft!

I dont have issue with any of the points you raised. They are exactly what I was saying 3 months ago ie. the vaccine will reduce the harm done to the individual, it will not stop vaccinated becoming infected or spreading the virus to others. On this basis, the us and them, " No Jab No Entry to protect workers and other customers "  cry for general lower risk venues from our leaders and some on these boards has been shown as the fallacy and lie some of us always knew it would be.

The past few months have been a great example of how some people can get so caught up in tribalism and propaganda from our leaders and social groups that they choose to denigrate and  discriminate others to the extent that a country such as Australia can literally introduce social apartheid and discrimination. It shows how frighteningly easy it is for our leaders to lead large numbers of  " normal" but obviously naive people down a very dark path in times of crisis.

Re: Pandemic over soon ... pfffffft!

ICU patients -

unvaxxed + heavy smokers ?

unvaxxed + pre-existing heart diease ?

unvaxxed + pre-existing chronic lung conditions ?

unvaxxed + diabetic ?

unvaxxed + obesity ?

unvaxxed + HIV ?

unvaxxed + kidney disease ?

Now how many in ICU without any pre-existing pertinent issues or condtions as per above ?

Why so many suffer infection but are successfully self-managed being without need of hospital care ?  99.3 %  nationally  ( hospitalised vs active )

Re: Pandemic over soon ... pfffffft!

It's more than 3 months since - most began speaking of only ' protection ' from the vaccines.

You certainly were not alone in voicing the vaccinated were not only able to catch Covid but to pass it also.

And the vaccinations will not prevent catching Covid again.

The past month has been a great example of removing mandates - removing all we all went through for months trying to avoid - to save life.

How does this sit with you?

One more time - it has been quite a while since it was ' us & them '.
