Is unconditional patriotism a desirable attribute or not?

I asked for clarification on exactly what you mean by unconditional patriotism in order to asnwer the question. It's not a term I've heard before and as we've seen meanings can vary between people.
I can't help it if you can't take a joke.

Unconditional patriotism should be fairly easy to comprehend as well, but seeing that you are having a problem understand I will explain.
Patriotism with no conditions attached, patriotism without queation , patriotism with no strings attached, patriotism under any circumstances

That's exactly the reason I asked for clarity 😄
Patriotism seems to have such broad meanings, people have differing interpretations.

It's a heavy subject

I think it means "My country right or wrong." and it's a concept I would stand on very firmly and trample underfoot.. It is actually a variation on the Nuremburg defence "I was only following orders."

But it looks like i have to say it again:
Someone very wise once said to me that messages of patriotism are positive, enriching and are about self. Whilst messages of racism are negative, confrontational and are about someone else.
Someone very wise once said to me (it wasn't a someone though; it was a lesson from my high school history book) That we need to be careful to make the distinction between Patriotism and Nationalism. because exaggerated feelings of Nationalism can lead the people so easily into War.
There are a few people on here who I think call themselves patriotists when in fact they are nationalists without even realising.
And it is people like this that have given the word 'Patriot' the negative associations we define it by today.
