Pierced ears

I am considering getting pierced ears. How do I go about it and who does it? Does it hurt, I am a wuss?

Re: Pierced ears

I did mine myself many years ago (many:)).  Back then they made  self-piercing hoop earrings.  The problem for me was during the night they would move slightly and in the morning another hole had started.  They never went completely through my earlobes and my ears were now very sore.

One morning I grabbed hold of those earrings and shoved them through my earlobes.  It didn't hurt all that bad....I think because my lobes were already so sore.

Many years later I had the second holes in each ear done by the gal who cut my hair.  She used the handy dandy gun mechanism.

Re: Pierced ears

My 12 year old daughter had hers done 6 months ago ( I relented to pester power ).

We went to a beauty type shop in the shopping centre. Cost $25

Ears are swabbed and a pen mark made and you are asked to confirm you are happy with the placement

You choose the. STUD earring eg colour

It is loaded into a gun type device and you will hear a click as it pierces.

My daughter said it did not hurt much at all and she did not flinch.

You have to turn them daily and apply antiseptic and leave them a couple of months to heal

You can see the range of earrings available if you search on ebay for. CAFLON and STUDEX (3 different sizes and the middle size is the one used for piercing)

I wear studs as I only like the stud earrings. I had my ears pierced at 16. I was not allowed earlier. Had a second piercing at age 20. When my flat mate had hers done and wanted someone to go first so I volunteered.

My favourite response. This should really upset my very conservative family. I have never been able to figure out an old hippy produced such conservative off spring.

Re: Pierced ears

Jean I suggest you get it done at a salon. My daughter got hers done at an Elle Roche salon. There is usually one of those in most shopping centres.

And buy Emla cream from the chemist. You put it on your ears 30mins before and your ears are numb. You won't feel a thing.

Once they are in, they won't hurt. You will just feel a pressure of having something in your ear that is alient. But once you get used to it you won;t know they are there.

Do it!

Re: Pierced ears

Yep Jean, same here.

We've done our job if the kids know conservative traits and of course, we went without "the little personal things" in providing for the kids.

Now we'll teach 'em how to relax and perform in  the mature years in grinding  away the excess  and have some mature fun and experiences.

Enjoy the fun and laughter in "shocking" them.Heart
