How times have changed? I don't knit, crochet or sew for the great-grandchildren anymore. Their mothers want easy care, wash and wear clothing for their children. No hassles with handwashing or ironing in this modern world.

Handmade with a lot of love has no value anymore.

Erica Woman Sad

I can understand Erica.  Having spent many hours knitting a matinee jacket in pure wool, and witnessing the shrunken - felt aftermath of having been thrown into the washing machine, I ceased making the effort.

Yes, mothers nowadays accept the easycare options with relish (as do I).

Just sometimes, it is lovely to wear naturally organic fabrics that only need an airing or spot-cleaning,  without being  fully submerged, to be put away for the next occasion.

now we just throw em away.

That reminded me of something else. BASHING the top of the TV when the picture rolled. For some reason it worked a lot of the time.

Rabbits ears, or the wire coils, aerials, that you had to keep adjusting depending on the weather. It always worked best when someone was holding it. In my house, whoever was holding it was told NOT to move. Of course they did and the picture turned to carp again.

Radio stations were all AM.
