Pregnancy ?

After the birth of my son 10 years ago , we struggled with fertility and had no luck falling pregnant . I'd pretty much given up that it just wasn't meant to be and decided to be grateful for the gorgeous son I have. Anyway 3 weeks ish ago I had a funny feeling I was pregnant and sure enough I was. I was so excited I cried happy tears all day . Since then tho it's been a bit of a roller coaster . I've had 3 blood tests to check everything is ok and 2 internal and 2 external ultrasounds. The results from the first tests were good. Hormone levels at 6000 and everything else normal. The first ultrasound showed a sac but nothing else could be seen . So they sent me for more blood tests which had a reading of 9000 hormone levels and my doc asked me to again go for a ultrasound . The guy who did my scan today didn't sound very positive , he can see nothing in the gestational sac, no heartbeat, the size hasn't changed much from my last scan. He all but said don't get your hopes up. Anyway I had another blood test today as my doc rang me Saturday to bring my appointment forward from Friday to today . This whole thing is making me a nervous wreck , I never had any of the probing or prodding in my last pregnancy. I really don't know what to think . I'm hoping someone on here can shed some light from experience and perhaps put my mind at ease .

my business with it is that i do not want to live in a hell hole of an overcrowded nightmare devoid of nature cos there isn't any room for it anymore etc...

seriously if you can not see that breeding like rabbits is not good for anyone there is no way to explain it to you.

My family has certainly not bred like rabbits....I am the only child of only children.  I had 2 children, one of them has no children and is not likely to have any.  The other one has 2 children.  So my family has produced 7 children in 4 generations.....hardly breeding like rabbits.

did you ever ponder why you want a(nother) child?

the planet is crawling with humans already.

that is what is destroying the planet.

don't you feel a little bit guilty for adding another flea to the dead horses back?

greggy stated in the OP that she only has one child and he is now 10 years old.  I sure wouldn't say she is the cause of the planet crawling with humans.  And, I can't for the life of me figure out why you would say that to her.  😞

Re: Pregnancy ?

if the world population was 1 million all in all there would be no global warming, no destruction as we know it yet people keep breeding as if there was no tomorrow.

If the population was 0 (zero) humans, there would still be global warming, not at the rate it is now, but it would still occur. Also, global warming has more to do with how we live than how many of us there are. To lessen the population so that the select few can live irresponcabilly, smoke and polute the environment, just somehow don't seem fair.

Re: Pregnancy ?

Thanks for your well wishes 🙂
It's been up and down the last few days , yesterday was pretty hard but today it's looking up a bit. The ultra sound said it hadn't detected anything positive and the report said it looks like an unviable pregnancy . Then I had more bloodwork which came back with higher hormone levels so now I have to go for another ultrasound.
My husband and I have decided to wait two weeks to give the fetus enough time to form so that it should show on the ultrasound so that I'm not getting disappointed by a scan that may be too early to detect anything .
Started to get morning sickness and indigestion which I think is a good sign.
.
Fingers and everything else crossed.

Re: Pregnancy ?

Me too Greggy.  As a side note, my nephew was not a pregnancy.  He's in his 20s now.

Re: Pregnancy ?

You have a son and he's 10 years old? Have you asked him how he would feel about having a new little brother or sister arrive to usurp his position?

Would he be jealous? would he suffer some sort of mental breakdown if he couldn't handle the transfer of your attentions?

It's not only your wants and wishes you need to consider. You are already lucky in that you have a child. To want and to have another baby may send your son the signal that he is not enough. Please be careful.

Re: Pregnancy ?

There are many siblings that have a number of years between their ages.  I would imagine that the 10 year old would be very excited if they were told that they had a new baby brother/sister to help raise and cherish.

Re: Pregnancy ?

It's just something to consider. Why do people have children anyway? There is always a certain component of "I want" in the decision.

Always a certain degree of selfishness inherent in the choice. It's not as if the world has a shortage of new babies. Every new mouth to feed in this world competes for ultimately finite resources.

Re: Pregnancy ?

Interesting lapetus, about the 10yo becoming jealous of attention being divided to include a newborn.

But from another angle, the 10yo will learn that the whole universe doesn't revolve around him.
