Re: Queensland Election

labor needs 45 for a clear majority but they can do a deal with the kap or the other seat which would get them across the line if under the 45

Re: Queensland Election

The Queensland election result could be further delayed if a by-election is ordered in the key undecided seat of Ferny Grove in Brisbane.

The Electoral Commission said it had confirmed Palmer United Party (PUP) candidate Mark Taverner was an undischarged bankrupt.

That rules him ineligible from running for Parliament and the Commission is seeking crown law advice on what to do next.

A spokesperson for the Electoral Commission said Mr Taverner had signed a declaration that he was eligible to stand for election.

Why can't the LNP understand that it is not that they failed to communicate or explain or justify their policies which is the problem . . . it is the very policies themselves which act as a poisonous and corrosive element, eroding their electoral support.

I thought it was just pure arrogance, but my hubby says, they do know.... they just want free reign to do whatever they like

The electorate isn't volatile. Voters aren't unpredictable. The rules have not changed. If you lie to people, if you promise one thing and deliver its opposite, if you treat public office as your due and the ordinary people who put you there with contempt, they will turn on you. And when they come for you, their vengeance will be swift and terrible to behold.

These are not arcane or complex truths. The modern world has not worked some fundamental transformation on politics. This is not about Twitter. If you lose office it's not because people didn't understand you. It's because they understood you all too well.

There has been nothing so frustrating the last forty-eight hours as watching the political class in all of its incarnations get this wrong.

Re: Queensland Election

Most of the preferences will go to LNP, so I don't think she has a chance.  So the pundits are saying.
