Quentin Bryce - what a champion!

How great is this woman?

In the last of the Boyer lectures she imagines an Australia where human rights are pivotal, all marriage is equal and we are our own republic.

Politicians take note.

No, check again, polks. Both parties are the same party. They're  both in the pockets of the " GLOBAL CORPORATIONS". They have no choice. It's either toe the line or you're out.

Hi Polo,

You wrote: So what we get is a farce.  And they make us pay for it.  They drag us into wars with which we don't agree.  They flood us with inappropriate migrants whom we don't want.

Polo, here is where I feel that you miss the concept of a democracy....you have told us what we do/don't want.

You (1 Australian) have felt that you  yourself can and do speak  for every other Australian .

this is also relevant. This is what new citizens of Australia take a pledge to be ,do and respect as part of their  'being Australian'.

At the citizenship ceremony, you pledge that you share Australia's democratic beliefs and that you respect the rights and liberties of the people of Australia.

Our democratic beliefs:

  • Parliamentary democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Living peacefully
  • Respect for all individuals regardless of background
  • Compassion for those in need

Our freedoms:

  • Freedom of speech and freedom of expression
  • Freedom of association
  • Freedom of religion and secular government

Our equalities:

  • Equality in Australia
  • Equality of men and women
  • Equality of opportunity

------------------------------------------------

I don't think so

Aussies speak for themselves.  Look around.  Visit other online fora.  Speak with your neighbours and to people in buses, trains, bank queues, public toilets, supermarkets

The Australian Electoral Commission has come up less than roses since the last election

Palmer has dragged the AEC screaming into the light

People suspected, now they're darn suspicious and saying so.  Palmer has illustrated that people's suspicions re the AEC may well be justified

Then we have the abomination of 'preferences'

Me, I want my vote to go where I point it.  Not through half a dozen shonks for whom I wouldn't vote in an apocalypse

All can be juggled.  Votes switch colour.  Who do we trust?  Sure, let's trust the AEC, why not.  The same AEC which loses a thousand votes, just like that.  The same AEC which was claiming to be counting votes when Palmer's scrutinizers weren't present.  Oh yes, it's time we scrutinized the AEC.  It was time 20 years ago

Now, it's well known by those with a working and independent brain and/or who visit online fora worldwide, that a certain insane group has at its disposal tens of thousands of online trolls whose purpose in life, and for the 'cause', seek to ' shape and form opinion'.  They are everywhere.  They even have beepers and call-signs to rush them to action.  These are they who claim to want more and more inappropriate migrants not just in little Austraila, but in all Western nations.

Their purpose in life is to ' form and shape opinions'

It's because their religion teaches them that most of us are idiots and worthless and are incapable of independent thought

They believe they can get people to do as they want by telling them 'everyone else' wants it

And they are terrified of those who can think for themselves -- in buses and trains, in bank queues, in supermarkets, etc.  Yes, they're terrified of majority opinion which is opposed to further migration

So you need to get out there and speak with real people.  And you'll need to be prepared for what they say

Because guess what ---- the average Aussie is not in the ebay forums

Nor is the average Aussie the least bit intimidated by ebay forum regulars
