Resetting passwords - the merry-go-round ride

After being locked out i.e., not able to sign in, and trying to jump thru all the hoops re non appearing emails and phone numbers no longer connected it has just become easier to register a new, all be it very similar, posting id.

Is this possible.  You now need that email to change your password?  Someone else has already got in and changed the email address so that when they change the password you can't get back in.  It used to be that you needed to enter your old password to change to a new password.  With the email (which may have been sent to the wrong person) it is already reset and you only need to enter your new password.... Hijacked!

Just a theory.  You never used to need an email to change the password so that could have been a bad move by ebay.

Actually, thinking about it further probably not. It won't let me sign in at all, saying I need to reset my password before proceeding. If someone else had accessed it it would just tell me I was using the wrong password wouldn't it?

Edit: it identifies my correct email address so I don't think it has been accessed. They do seem to have messed this one up big time though I agree

That's a bit odd isn't it.  How do they expect you to reset it if you can't log in?  Through the email only then I suppose.

sounds like hotmail might have put ebays mail in the trash. Did you block ebay so they coulnt send you your flybuy points?? lol, wish I'd thought of that.  Darn inbox is full of my *ahem* indiscretions

Nah, checked junk and trash. It's just not there anywhere.

I have a rule that sends ebay messages straight into a folder, so I only have to look at them if I want to 🙂

My email had no link to do it, it said come to ebay......................
