FINALLY,
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has announced the federal election will be held on Saturday, September 7.
Mr Rudd revealed the new election date in an email to Labor supporters with the words "It's on".
"A few moments ago I saw the Governor-General and asked that she dissolve this parliament and call the federal election for September 7," the email reads.

Didn't Rudd say on Saturday that not only had he not set a date but that Sunday was a family day and he would not do that to families?

About the asking for donations.... it has never ever been done before that a prime minister uses his or her position to solicit for donations.
He was at work... he was doing the job of the PM... he was announcing to the country the date of the election... the writs have not yet been written as they will be done tomorrow... so he is not is caretaker mode... he is still or PM...
He had no right to use his position as PM to ask for donations to a political party.
BUT.. thanks to his wonderful speech I have given my donation to the LNP....
dont forget, they dumped the big tobacco donations unlike the libs. do you know the same people who fund tobacco lobbying fund climate denial and started the tea party ? they aren't fooling anybody are they ?
