I don't know about anyone else. but I nor our business, is any longer buying anything remotely Russian.
This is not so much choosing to take a side, but merely not wanting to be seen as condoning recent events.

How are the Russian people responsible? Are we responsible for Morrison's decision on the French nuclear submarines, or his decisions on climate control? The Russian people have no influence on what Putin does - he is a violent, evil dictator.

The President is elected in a two-round system every six years, with a limit of two consecutive terms. Prior to 2012, the term of office was four years. If no candidate wins by an absolute majority in the first round, a second election round is held between two candidates with the most votes.
He has now changed this he can have power till 2036 - the majority agreed.
And yes - whoever we vote in - we take responsibilty for their choices.

WOW, I've never seen that written before. I suspect there are a few posters on this board who do not accept responsibility for Morrison's past choices LOL.

Good news here.
Russian and Belarusian athletes have on Thursday been banned from the Beijing Winter Paralympics over the war in Ukraine with organisers bowing to international pressure and threats of a boycott.

The Russians I know are in shock, horrified.
It is absolutely a disgrace. Russia is a huge and powerful country; it doesn’t need Ukraine. But I understand it’s about something different… grabbing back historical territory that has been under Russian control or at least under its umbrella previously. But the tumultuous history of Ukraine reflects a long struggle for independence, which it gained… and to try to take that away by force is horrible.
Would it not have been better for Russia to create ties of friendship and support rather than to loom threateningly in anticipation of aggressive invasion? After all, go back far enough in Russia’s history and you’ll find other tribes who occupied or controlled the various parts of the land… At what point do we stop saying, “We controlled this section of the earth once so it’s forever ours”…?
I am very concerned that all the huffing and puffing won’t stop Russia vanquishing Ukraine. Political and financial sanctions - are they going to cause Putin to so much as pause for thought? Really worrying for so many reasons.
My prayers and thoughts are with the people of Ukraine.
I dont think Australia's Aboriginal community got that memo................
