How do you eat them?
Do you prepare them fresh? Or just open a tin?
Cook them whole or fillet them?
Do you eat their heads?
What sorts of things do you use them for?
Are they a regular main protein in your diet?

I eat them on toast mashed with finely chopped onion. The tinned variety, that is.
Takes ages and lots of soap, to get the smell of your hands though.

Sardines are a staple of Italian Cuisine and hugely popular in Fremantle
As far as local fishing legends go, itโs hard to go past Fremantleโs sardine expert, Jim Mendolia. Heading up the family business, Fremantle Sardines, Jim takes a hands-on approach in his work; out on the ocean early each morning catching local sardines. Originally from Italy, it was the Mendolia family that was instrumental in the introduction of sardines onto dinner tables around Australia. The long-running Fremantle Sardine Festival grew from the hard work of Jimโs family, attracting thousands of visitors each year and today Mendolia Sardines are a highly sought after, quality sardine product.
