So you use the self service checkout , prodding the touch screen in the same point of contact as the last hundred customers , of course all have used the store provided sanitiser , and in enough quantity to discretely rub over the handle of the trolley, but for some , a wonder what that touch screen is smeared with , cold , flu , dna ? so what to do ?
Incur the store disdain by sanitising a second time upon exit ? , or have your own wipes handy ? or just ignore as trivial and of no consideration ? or maybe the touch screen is wiped over after each use by the appointed sentinel ?

Not always. Only if I use self serve. I don't have time to count customers. Can't answer for others. Have not watched how much other people use. Have not given it a thought. Nope. Sometimes. Depends on the situation. I Don't know.

How many times do we touch our faces while we are shopping? One NSW study found students did it in class around 23 times an hour, and it is often subconscious. So people could sanitize their hands before, during and after shopping and still contract the bug if they touched their face. Personally, I could never be sure I didn't because I am so focused on keeping my distance from everybody.

If I stop at the shops its usually on my way home from work, late in the evening when there is not many people around. I,m usually covered in dirt and farm muck, so I just race in, get what I need and get out again. My arms are usually carrying groceries and it only takes a few minutes, so no face touching or touching anything else that I dont need.

So, don't use either the self checkout or an ATM
Simples.....for me
We don't have a choice. There are no deliveries in our area.

Do you ever do a quick price comparison on similar items at the supermarket?
Lean forward to look at the price tag, on the shelf, then shuffle down a bit and look at the next price tag on a similar item?
Reading those tiny slips of card, from six feet away? I don't think so.. ha ha...
So, how many people do you see wearing a pair of binoculars, while grocery shopping?
They may not have touched anything, but in leaning forward to read the price tag, they've probably breathed on the shelf....
There's another potential contact surface....
Actually, maybe taking binoculars grocery shopping doesn't seem like such a bad idea, now...
Social distancing... Adapting to our changed circumstances... It's taking it to a whole new level...
Now all I have to do is take one of those grab claws with me, to ensure I minimise contact with the goods on the shelves... ha ha...

I was just thinking of the title of the thread.
Well - trying to make sense of the title of the thread.
I shop - before I exit. lol
Taking as much care as possible - it's all we can do - no over the top panic - no panic at all.

I just sanitise my hands upon entrance. There's always a staff member there wiping the trolley handles down. I wash my hands again when I get home and unpack.
I never even thought about the screen at the self-serve.
I don't get too paranoid about it.
I have a little sanitiser dispenser hanging on a key ring off the side of my handbag.
