Should I call him? Or is it stalking?

I'm selling a pile of books on ebay and was about to list 2 collections of old boys books (Robinson Crusoe, Treasure Island, Huck Finn etc plus a good Enid Blyton collection). They are published in the 60's and not overly valuable.

I found them on the side of the road about 20 years ago during a council clean up and then I gave them to my son. Each book has the owners name and address in it plus some notes throughout - which books he liked, his comments on the characters and one book he gave to his sister on her birthday with a note saying "I think you will love this book." All very sweet.

Anyway, the name is highly unusual so I googled it. And I have found someone with same name who lives around the block from the original address. So I figure it has to be him. He is a lawyer with the ABC so I now have his email address.

The question is: do I email him and ask him if he wants his books back? Is that too weird? Or do I just ebay them as originally planned?

I would just sell them as planned.

They were put out on the street for collection.. no one from the house wanted to keep them then.

I would find it weird if someone phoned me up about something I or my parents donated/threw out 20 yrs ago.

I would email him. Something like that would have some sentimental value especially if he has kids now. I would love to see something from the past that meant something to me then.

Oh it's not stalking if you're not trying to sell it to him or blackmail him with it.

Lol! I wasn't going to sell them to him - he could have them for free.

I bought a book at a garage sale about 22 years ago for my 2 daughters.

Just recently they had a clean up (yay) and I came across the book so I looked in the whitepages and they were still at the address in Queensland.

The lady who owned the book was only young when her mother sold it but she was delighted to have the book back.

So contact him, he might be grateful for the happy memories.

But am, what if his mum was like my mum - she used to throw everything out and now I am left with nothing of my childhood!  It's probably why I am such a horder now...

I just thought he mght have kids now so perhaps something that was meaningless to him 20 years ago might be more important now that he has kids of his own...

I would call or email him

20 years ago I lost some items that meant a lot to me.... if I got a phone call now to say these items had turned up I would be delighted...

email might be best... then he can decide if he wants to meet you and look at the books...

keep us informed..
