I just watched Materchef US Season 5 Episode 1
(Thought I better start a new thread and not hijack the Australian one)
Plus we can add Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares to this one too.

So, I'll take that as a no?

Okay, rules, I read ya loud and clear, from you and your cohort. lol.
Was just testin' the waters, see if my theory was correct. Yup, it was. lol
Man, I wish I was wrong more often.
I used to like the cooking shows, but now not so much.

that's a shame, steppe,i'm sure you could learn a great deal from them,or any other cook, for that matter. perhaps you should check out masterchef jr,amazingly talented kids you could learn from on that show. they work hard to get there!:)

Noooooo, that's one less opportunity for me to see Gordon each week LOL
I see his point though, it was kind of repetitive, and well, there were good episodes every now and then, but the rest were just kinda don't know how to explain - was like Days of Our lives - same plot, different building - doubt I would have watched it if it were Delia or Jamie etc hosting
But astonishing to see so many filthy chefs and restauranters - I guess they don't have black markers and cling wrap over there
Plus it was kind of like a Ramsat Power trip - ooohhhhh SuperGordon will save us - he needs his own Batman signal!
I liked the restaurant makeovers though
I would like to see more of Hotel Hell, not over that yet - but no one uploads that to You Tube for me LOL

Hey, been meaning to ask, do you guys have Male and Female spoons over there?
on 29-06-2014 01:08 PM
you mean,like,sticks and slots?
on 29-06-2014 01:32 PM
I'm not sure - what's a stick and a slot?
I've just always known those large metal spoons - (about 30cm? that's 12" for you) as either male spoons or female spoons, but it might be a European thing? It just occurred to me the other night that on Hell's Kitchen they don't call them that, so maybe that's not their real name iykwim
Male Spoon
Female Spoon
Slotted Spoon

ah,i see. the male spoon is a stick, the female spoon is a slot, and the other one is a serving slot. BUT,that isn't necessarily the definition in other parts of the country. i can ask, though!

LOL, it's not a big deal - obviously a cultural thing LOL
