Here we go again - after three years of a Federal minority ALP government "propped" up by two "independents" representing conservative seats the ALP in SA on only 47% of the two party preferred vote is now propped up by a single independent whos electorate is a very conservative one (Labor got what 8% of the vote there?)...
No matter how the diehards try and sugar coat it SA labor didnt win, they may be in power but thats by default only and can not be called a victory at all.
Labor lost 3-4 seats, they got less votes than the Libs and the biggest kick in the teeth for them is they now have to now rely on an independent and be held hostage to him. Another Oakeshot and Windsor. Geoff Brock is a turncoat and goes against his conservative electorate for a few pieces of silver as this is his last term as their member after this.
On a 2PP basis, the Liberals resulted 54.7% vs Labor's 45.3%. Even higher than any opinion poll was actually suggesting.
The people of SA dont want labor but due to the weird gerrymander voting system and a turncoat independent the people will be forced to endure another 4 years of chaos.

when libs get in on a minority vote the system is fair and just! when it goes the other way the system needs fixing?
It also applies to the other parties when it suits it is a fair system when not in their favour it sucks.

thats what i did this time azure. First time ever that ive voted Labor, but i really had no choice.
The Liberals were offering nothing imo.
They didnt earn my vote, if they had, they would of got it

He was promised a cabinet seat... he will get a huge pay increase and will be able to porkbarrel his own regional electorate now that he controls regional areas in his new portfolio. How else does Labor get Independents to side with them?

usually by providing the only credible alternative. the libs couldn't govern even if he supported them. this was the only option, besides which he despises the SA libs for attempting to smear him (with very little sucess )

Remind you of anybody?? Oakshot and Windsor maybe. Wonder how this will pan out, what's going to happen if the other guy comes back and goes with the Liberals?
Should be interesting. I also wonder how Wetherill is going to pay for all his election promises, the states broke, 1000's losing jobs, when will the mendicant start holding his hand out.
Will he spit the dummy and threaten to resign, again if he doesn't get his own way?
What a total joke Labor is, pathetic really, and how come every state has suffered under Labor? How come every state was broke under them? food for thought but blind Freddie knows they are incompetent with finances.

Why don't you do an analysis of the time Howard and his team of buddies that are needed to form government got a similar result in a federal election. Did you complain just as loudly then about them not winning?

Only fool would label a whole set of people incompetent based on their political allegiances. Especially considering that set of people gained 3 triple A credit ratings for the first time ever and steered the country through global economic tough times and left us the envy of most of the world.

Looks like it's time for the alan jones sour grapes pic so favoured by some posters here.
The libs were complicit in this (so-called) gerrymander (which it's not). Only now that it doesn't appear to work in their favour do they get all self-righteous and claim a stitch-up.
Labor has formed government, accept it, move on.
