Subway Pulls 'Sexist' Ad After Backlash

Fast food chain Subway has pulled its Halloween ad from its official YouTube channel after it was branded "sexist".

The US purveyors of lengthy sandwiches produced an ad that encouraged women to eat Subway sandwiches in order to look good in "sexy" Halloween costumes.

They encountered an online backlash, with internet users branding them "sexist" "misogynistic" and "sizeist".

The spot features a woman who consumes the company's sandwiches because she wants to fit into "all the costumes" for Halloween, like "sexy nurse" "spicy Red Riding Hood" and sexy permutations of schoolteacher and football player.

I don't see anything wrong with the ad.

I like Subway's Italian BMT best. With avocado. Yum.

The only thing wrong with the ad is that they are telling us that their product is healthy because it is low fat.

And loaded with sugar, far from a slimming component.

Where's the sugar?

No sugar if you only get salad like me

and salad is low fat

How is a salad roll not healthy?

The product is far more healthy than  alternatives available at fast food outlets.

The sugar would be in the dressing, and in the bread.  When fat (which has the flavour) is removed from food, it is replaced with sugar, and probably some salt, otherwise it would be almost tasteless.

No dressing.  I have jalapenos instead.

To make bread you must use a little bit of sugar to feed the yeast.

Not 10 teaspoons for each roll

I repeat, how is a salad roll unhealthy?

I don't have dressing either.

Any standard bread has a percentage of sugar.

I would've thought my Italian BMT a salt bomb rather than sugar.

Anyway, I only have it once a month or so. Hardly a health hazard.

Like hotcakes at Macca's for brekky with my GDD as in my Mackay stay lol.

BREAKING: Subway Just as Unhealthy as McDonald’s!

While total calories were slightly lower at Subway, the average calories per sandwich purchased and sodium content were both higher at Subway. The Subway sandwiches contained an average of 784 calories, versus 572 at McDonald's. The sodium content at both restaurants was three times higher than the IOM recommended daily dose: 2,149 mg at Subway versus 1,829 mg at McDonald's.
