I really dont know!
Looks like a mummified bird but I suspect it is dead leaves.
I wanted to throw a tennis ball up there to find out and dislodge it.
Reckon it would crumble and we'd be none the wiser though.

there's a shiny spot like an eye attached to what looks like a mouse (NOT a petrified squirrel) Maybe a little possum or something is living in the leaves.
