The Death Penalty, as a deterrent

The Death Penalty, as a deterrent.

As there seems to be widely differing views on this subject it may be an idea to discuss it here instead of in the other thread involving real people..

Are you in favour of the Death Penalty or do you oppose it.

If you are in favour , in which circumstances should it be imposed.

If you are not in favour, are there any exceptions to your opposition?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Icy, let's not forget that beautiful school girl Ebony Simpson. The piece of filth that killed her still draws breath.

Absolutely, Vil, they are too numerous to list here, and why should the taxpayer be feeding and housing such...I have no word for them. Best they be removed and out of the gene pool.

lets face it, the place is getting over crowded as is

Abortion is the killing of the truly innocent.

which is legal to do here. i believe it should be leagalised 'everywhere', a woman needs that choice performed by a professional in a safe clean environment. coz some will have it done anyway

Well I don't think so, unless it's a case of rape or deformity. At least, if it's legalised, it shouldn't be funded by the health system.

Anyway, better stick to the topic.

there are so many other factors and good reasons why they should have that option to abort

whether opinions are opposed or not. its their business. accidents and lack of education preventing it from happening in the first place.

some young chicks simply don't have access to that information

The Death Penalty is not a deterrent, If it was no one would be killing any one in the US states that still have the death penalty.

Is not a deterrent to drug smugglers either as we Know

and back to the topic - i wish the death penalty was a deterrent but obviously its not.

I'm not pro death penalty but I don't shed a tear for the heinous murderers who cop the needle.

I don't think it shoud be viewed so much as a deterrent as more a removal of such criminals from society altogether. I don't see why the taxpayer should shoulder the burden of their upkeep.

This comes up quite frequently on various US chat boards, and my position is that until "Life without parole" actually means life without parole, I support the death penalty.

Some scumbag gets "life without parole" and then in a few years, some bleeding heart initiates a petition for parole, because the malefactor has undergone an "epiphany, and is now a god-fearing, law-abiding citizen"......and the idiots on the parole board take it as gospel.

It has been proven that no one who has has had the death penalty invoked,  falls into recidivism........

The death penalty sure prevents a repeat offence.

The ultimate deterrent

There are 12 families in Britain that would probably vote for it:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2420137/Revealed-The-12-convicted-murderers-freed-licence-ki...

US had a "few" more: http://www.wesleylowe.com/repoff.html

They should cetainly not be paroled,(IMHO anyone that commits a murder should not receive any other

sentence lower then life in jail).

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/frank-banic-murders-again-six-months-after-release-from-pr...

There are plenty of cases where the death penalty would have been the best option and it should automatically

be enforced in the case of serial killers and where the scum take multiple lives.

That my be a deterrent for that person but so would incarceration for life.

If death penalties were a deterrent, there would be no one waiting for their turn.

i assume you are talking about drug related offenders?!

some addicts learn to recover from their addictions and then want to actually abide by the laws

im an example of that, and i am still grateful for given a second chance [from serving a jail sentence that is]
