I suspect  a little more research might reveal that rather than showing 'dumb, lefty cancel culture' the outrage on both counts was actually quite ambidextrous.

Not from what I,ve seen. The traffic is virtually all Smiths way with just a few passing token comments about the globally broadcast public ridicule and humiliation Smiths wife endured. Had Smith not reacted to the comments in the way he did, we wouldnt even be hearing about it.

As we have seen so many times before, the left has got blinkered vision as it jumps on the outrage bus with its latest plaything. Just a bunch of mindless hypocrites !!

My opinion is that the joke was in very poor taste, making fun of a person's illness or disability, and not funny at all.

However, if I slapped someone like that, I would be charged with assault.

The behaviour of both was wrong, but only one could lead to a criminal charge (although the joke could potentially have caused much more hurt than the slap).

I agree entirely and your post supports my proposition. That being that a civilised society has organised structures and jurisdictions in place to manage and sanction inappropriate conduct. It is these jurisdictions that need to act if those involved deem it necessary, not the lynch mob of social media, keyboard warriors demanding cancel culture. 

The whole lefty cancel culture thing is no different to the roaming mobs of the 16th century that dragged " witches " from their homes to be burnt at the stake or KKK mobs prowling the deep south of the U.S.A to commit atrocities on Negro populations. They both claimed and believed they where doing the " right thing ".

That is the hypocrisy of lefty cancel culture. The roaming digital mob of misfits and morons dictates justice ( cancelling careers etc ) with scant knowledge of possible periphery facts and little regard for proportional response and future redemption.

Cancel Culture is just as dangerous and dumb as the 16th century mobs of fork wielding potato pickers roaming the streets ready to crucify their latest outrage victim.

Not sure how many have been " bunt " at the stake, but its highly probable Will Smith is of Negro heritage and he is the latest patsy to be " crucified " by leftist counter culture.

And just another thought to highlight the hypocrisy and stupidity of the leftist dogma. Imagine for a moment it was Will Smiths wife who stepped onto the stage and slapped the host across the face in response to his comments. I suspect we would be having a very different conversation to the one we are having now.

Standard tactic of the left. Take a few words out of context to reflect a completely different meaning to the original text. ( perfect example, the misrepresentation of  SCOMO's if you cant afford rent, buy a house comments )

Why - exactly.......... abuse is abuse, but I suspect that, had Jada Smith slapped the host, rather than Will smith, she would have been celebrated as a " strong woman " standing up for other woman with Alopecia Areata, not taking carp from some sad middle aged man who was trying to be funny at her expense etc. etc. Many here may not admit it, but you all know its true !

Kid Rock is also of 'Negro heritage,' And your post #34 referred to outrage victims being crucified, not "crucified" - there is a not-so-subtle difference. 

You are allowing  political rhetoric  to obscure your argument.
