The Shroud of Turin

I am part way through reading a fiction book featuring The Shroud, and it has sparked my curiosity.

What do you know?

What do you think?

Me? I want to believe that it is real, but I'm not convinced one way or the other just yet, but I am interested in discussing it with anyone else interested in doing so.

For something of such historical significance to truly exist would be amazing.

Where is Peter's version? Where is Judas' version?

Luke 24:12

But Peter arose and ran to the tomb; and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths

lying by themselves; and he departed, marveling to himself at what had happened.

There is a Gospel Of Thomas - that I believe was found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. It doesn't contain anything controversial or startlingly new and is mostly philosophical in nature.

additionally, how do we even know that the four books we were presented with, or the quotes contained tyherein had not been edited? How do we know that's what they really did say?

and yet another .... using different wording....

It is no wonder it gets confusing? bit like when things are translated by others who understand words to mean different things.

Luke 24:12: ‘Peter got up and ran to the tomb and stooping down and looking in, he saw the strips of linen cloths alone by themselves, and he went home, wondering about what had happened’.
John 20:5 to 7: ‘Stooping down, John saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not enter the tomb. Then Peter came up after him and went into the tomb and saw the linen cloths lying there; but the burial cloth which had been around Jesus' head was not lying with the other linen cloths, but was rolled up in a place by itself’.

It is simple to prove that false but what is the point? So i can start and half way through the haters get me banned?

The Bible is coded. It has things in it that cannot be put together by man.

I cannot stand the haters and he will come on the boards soon in his arrogance and pomp and say what a chuckle it is.That sums up you people. You are haters. You dont want to learn.

You will soon enough when the nukes start flying and then I WILL laugh at you and to the one that said i will enjoy war I say this. You enjoy laughing at people. You all love mocking people. You love making a person upset with your constant mocking and ridicule. So yes I will be happy to finally see you stop laughing.A nuclear exchange will do that.

I would love to show you the truth of the Bible. But it isnt possible. You all hate too much and have too much pride.

Love, prove what you want, but I respectfully ask that we just stick to the shroud in here.

Back off eh, I'm not your enemy - I believe in the existence of what you call "God", I just don't really appreciate yours or anyone else's beliefs being rammed down my throat uninvited, OK?

OK, so we have historical reference to people claiming to see the cloth, does it say anywhere if anyone collected and stored it?

How did it get from Christ's Tomb to where it is stored today? What makes people think that it is THIS cloth that not only wrapped The Jesus Christ, but even came from that era at all?

I doubt that just an image on a piece opf cloth convinced people it was the real deal - somone must have presented it at soime time as The Cloth and been asked to verify why they made that claim.....

Otherwise it is like John's piece of toast back there -
