The terror raids have begun!

Looks huge on the news.....interesting that a neighbour has stated that she knew the guy for many years and he seemed ordinary, now you wouldn't expect them to walk around with a sign would you lol

2 were arrested.

One for having an unlicensed firearm. He has been released. So obviously he wasn't deemed scary enough a terrorist.

Another for suspected terrorist activities. He had his sword confiscated and is currently still being detained for further questioning.

What I would like to know is how the media knew exactly where the raids were taking place. So well positioned were they that they were able to take some solid photos of the 'arrests'. Co-incidence?

And there you have it.   To those here who can't see the simplicity of this.  That the raids and the high alert and the troops leaving was an orchestrated dance to drum up fear so that the population will lie down and comply.
This is worth listening to, an interview with Senator Leyonhjelm.

Sorry no conspiracy here.

If memory serves, for years now there has been an informal agreement in place whereby, to stop the need for media outlets to “cultivate” police sources, that the police media unit will provide media executive with advance notice that something is about to happen, on the understanding that the information will be kept confidential with nothing published until the activity commences.

So, the media benefits because they can be in situ to report the event. The police benefit because of a reduced rick of a leak resulting in premature disclosure which could compromises operational security.

i thought this was common knowledge - BUT -

i get why people need to invent conspiracy theories.

the alternative is very scary.

it makes people feel safer believing the threat is not real.

Do you both seriously think that just before a major sting involving 800 police working to an ASIO agenda that they would alert the media??

Oh yes I can just imagine the phone call " Oh hello, is this the Daily Telegraph? This is the AFP Marketing department calling. We are about to undertake a top secret operation with ASIO and thought you might like some piccies of the action. Only thing is that we need you to be discreet because we don't want to alert these terrorists that we are on the way because a) they are dangerous and b) we don't want them to have the chance to get rid of evidence before we even get in there. You're in? Great see you on the front lawn of suspect number 1..."

This isn't asome PR event...oh wait...

So is it true that there was no beheading threat?  It was just assumed that was what might be done?

While beheading was not specifically mentioned in the alleged phone call on Tuesday – one of several believed to have taken place between Baryalei and Azari – it is assumed that this would have been the method of the killing.

Re: The terror raids have begun!

Who knows but we have a PM who is daring anyone with aggression problems to fight us.

Why is war the only acitvity they want us to get first place in?

In everything else they want us to wait until last.  Don't innovate - wait, watch and pay.

From anarchists in the 1920s and radical leftists in the 1960s, to fringe, extreme-right Christian bombers or gunmen in the United States in recent decades, or radical Islamists such as Islamic State today, terrorist groups have one thing in common. They seek to shock, while simultaneously portraying themselves as victims. While their beliefs can vary wildly, what they all share is the “propaganda of the deed” in their extreme violent activities.

Typically, political violence in the most extreme form – terrorism – usually will see groups fracture in to smaller sub-groups. Once violence is legitimated, it then becomes a way to settle internal disagreements as well.

Given that we have seen a number of terrorist groups come and go over the decades, it bears scrutiny how these various groups were successfully stopped, as well as where governments failed. Buying in to media hype actually helps terrorist organisations to create public suspicion, division among groups and eventual social disorder where terrorism can thrive.

Whether it is in Iraq, Australia, Britain, or Canada, radical groups will try to draw legitimate political authorities into a violent confrontation of some kind.

Public and government reprisals against any defined group is precisely what terrorists want. It legitimates their standing as victims rising up against their oppressors through the use of violence, ever more extreme.
