Just moved into new abode and find that when i turn on the light in the bathroom the fan comes on and stays on and I don't how to switch it off. Any ideas please?

Dont think having the loo in b/room is a big issue, cant say it has ever bothered me at all ......
I think I'd be happier with the fan bushies as it's a small area and I'd be worried about mould with all the steam. Actually as there are quite a few power points in there i might just attach a small but bright lamp, for when I pick the hairs out of my nose.

Actually I just found another solution that may allow you to keep the lights for your nose hair pickings!

You posted a pic years ago, can't remember the subject and it had you in it.
Love cavies too. We had cockers but think I prefer the mini version.
I too wouldn't go without the fan, moisture builds up. Quick fix for an electrician to put a pull down switch on a cord next to the fan or put in ones those light/fan combo's that also warm the bathroom nicely.

Sounds like a plan Brighton, our b/room has good ventilation, have been here for over 3 yrs n no prob at all re mould etc .... I cant handle having a shower with a fan whirring above my head
