I just read this and tend to agree with some of the points Katie Hopkins has raised.
Would never leave my child and go out to dinner, to do it in a foreign country is just not something I could imagine doing.

Quite agree lurker.
My point was more to affirm what I think was the nature of the article being, we as a society together with the media seem to have put the McCanns in a one sided view with very little thought to the other side.
I see the article as mostly a counterpoint to balance a possible biased view.
But it is interesting how much of resources has been invested in the case, which goes to show how much we care about individuals.
And no matter how "bad" the parents may have been, I am glad so much has gone into the effort for little Madeleine's sake.
As we all know, there is nothing more important than our little ones.

Ok, I've gone back an read the article properly (I admit to skimming earlier) and I get where you guys are coming from.
There are a couple of things she says though that disturb me.
“Kate and Gerry McCann didn’t deserve £11million of our cash to look for Maddie or try to resolve their consciences or salvage reputations"
Maybe they don't, but Maddie certainly does.
"I believe the truth is that Madeleine McCann is never coming home"
I, and I suspect most people, probably agree. But, like the Morecombes, we/they just need to know.
I was quite surprised, when we were over there recently, at the number of missing posters there were about the place of this little girl. I think the first one I noticed was in Amsterdam airport.

I think every one should stop beating up the parents, ok what they did was wrong and I bet they have paid for it over and over again.
They will have to live with it for the rest of their lives.
I would just like to know what happened to that little girl and feel the police in that country did not do their job, blaming it on the parents instead of looking for the real abductor of Maddie.

The fact of the matter is that it would not have happened if the child was not left alone
On the contrary it can and has happened while parents were asleep in the next room,
