think i will believe the ACTU when it comes to wages, jobs and safety issues.
so how much are the participants actually getting paid per hour and is it in fact half the minumum wage?
did you know the service providers must have a work health and safety management safety that adheres to AS4801 and the Government will purchase personal accident and product and public liability insurance to cover Participants in the Programme?

.....soggy bandaids
hi painstew
it is actually covered by health and safey under safety equipment which does make specific reference to sun protection and even insect repellent. If they're lucky they can have lunch under an oak tree. No worries there.

Here is a job for this so called 'Green Army" .It may become an increasingly vital one .
Fruit growers across the state are cooling and protecting their orchards in the hope of limiting damage to the summer harvest from Victoria's scorching heatwave.

I'd like to see more real opportunities for young people in rural and regional areas. It is often assumed they all want the same physical and menial work as days gone by rather than focusing on how we can provide more diverse opportunities.
It's a shame he wants to kill the NBN instead of offering and subsidising trainee army in cabling and IT.
I know of a few regional Australian Youth prepared to fruit pick...the jobs they wanted are contracted out to cheap OS workers .

Hi Boris, there's a thought
though ...only OK if our Country's Health advisors stop telling us to stay out of extreme heat etc etc.....(ie;examples of red tape)
only if and when they no longer care about our Health and wellbeing

izabs, well i don't believe the govt is concerned with the health and well being of the unemployed and it will be interesting to see the reaction to the changes in the DSP. There has been talk of following what has already been done in the UK in regards to the Disability Pension, considering the NSW Lib State Govt has already followed the UK with the "bedroom tax" it wouldn't be entirely out of the question.
Often there is support for a lot of cuts/changes to welfare, forced work experience, work for the dole etc as long as it doesn't affect the individual supporting the changes, that opinion is usually somewhat different if they themselves are in the firing line. ![]()

I have to make this brief . There is bigger 'short-term' money in this Government not caring about our Health, needs, our Environment and the Rights of all Australians ...than there is if they did.
Red and Green tape = less big business dollars
and much less of what many of us value about our Country .
imo a handshake or several has been made at our expense
