Re: Turnbull routed

It's fairly telling on Abbott that it even came down to this in the first place - had a feeling he would win by a small or medium margin backing as I'm sure other ministers were concerned over their own position in a post Abbott universe

Re: Turnbull routed

Reportedly there was (very unusually) one informal vote, with something written on it.    Love to see that!

Do you think it's at all telling that abbott is not holding a press conference about this mornings outcome?  Could it be because he can't be trusted to speak off the cuff?

I don't think so. The harlequinade known as Parliament resumes in 20 or so minutes. It would have taken at least 15 minutes for Tony to say something. He would say: " This um-er- morning um-um a secret ah ballot......" Very hard on the ears.

Abbott did NOT win convincingly.   That was the whole point of the spill motion.  Under 20 no votes might be a convincing win.

It now is only a matter of time.

The pundits suggest that Sinnerdinos was the architect.

disappointment is bitter,   the numbers are good for the PM. As for "pundits" is that like Rudds "Sophie"?  anecdotal chit chat is not fact.

Senator Sinodinos, was one of PM Abbotts staunchest supporters but he shot himself in the foot didn't he?.

I think **bleep**ising peoples names and ID's is against cs regulations.

Re: Turnbull routed

The previous vote to make him leader of the LNP was 41/42

So he has gone from a majorioty of one to a much bigger majority.

How can that NOT be an improvement ?

Re: Turnbull routed

A short press conference shortly.  What's the bet that "it will be a more consultative and collegial government".

That will be the twenty-first time that he has said that in the last year.

No press conference.  Coward

Re: Turnbull routed

Use your brain vicr, the front bench voted to keep their current jobs, as someone else pointed out earlier on, the back bench largely want anyone else except abbott, there was no leadership challenge from anyone else, but 3 were going to put up their hands if the seat was vacated.

61/39 is a huge majority and a resounding vote of confidence. But If you mean over 67% of the votes Abanese got to the paltry number Shorten got then I suppose your slant is to scoff at the win but you didn't scoff at Shortens win, did you? Robot Very Happy

Idle

I was just in the process of looking up the numbers Shorten got as I knew it was less than a majority.

But you are right, they would never admit it.
