True we don't know about that, and suspicions aren't fact. We do know actually, the MP's themselves have said so. Went home and talked to people in their electorates.

What we do know is that they haven't shown themselves loyal to their party leader, and by extension to the people of Australia by trying to once again bring about the sort of chaos that had defined the previous government.

The MP's work for the people in their electorate. Voters/potential voters.

Many of these Liberal MP's have been quoted direct as saying the people in their electorate are concerned with Abbott's leadership and fear if he remains as Leader, LNP will lose the next election.

The people of Australia don't wan't Abbott as PM any longer either.. he has a shocking polls results (preferred PM very low %) that back that view up.

It is not sensible to remain loyal to a Leader, if he is incompetent. That would not be doing your job as a MP, as it is not beneficial to people/voters of Australia.

True and they will be licking their wounds now. A few nonentities trying to tear down a first term Prime Minister?? chance is a fine thing. I hope Ruddock whips them into gear and Turnbull is shut down for good.

We all saw the train wreck of 6 years of chaos and dysfunction, betrayal and night moves, political assassination's from Shorten,  nobody wants to go back to that.

Keating and Howard both had seriously low poll numbers but Howard triumphed whilst Keating is left a bitter old hater.

The only person who is going to be "done slowly" is that  excuse of a human being,  Shorten.

Re: Turnbull routed

I'll be surprised if Abbott is still the leader of the Libs when the next federal election comes around because surely they cannot be so stupid as to have the party led by someone so inept. Either way, I doubt that the LNP will be voted in again for a second term.

Smiley LOL

CM headline is "Shorten was the winner this morning"

The ABC’s Barrie Cassidy said: “With 40 per cent of the party against you ... you’d almost have to have a bit of cheek to carry on”.

Re: Turnbull routed

With respect icy, I think you've got that **bleep** about.

MPs first and foremost loyalty should be to the people who voted them into their positions, and only secondly to blindly follow the party line.
Someone else will have the numbers but as I see it, if the polls are falling logic says it must be some people who voted LNP who are changing their minds. Those people would surely be taking their concerns to their local member, who should, if he/she is truely loyal, express those concerns at the party level. That's loyalty.

[PS Sorry for the convoluted sentence, but I think you'll get my drift 🙂 ]

Re: Turnbull routed

To suggest a backbencher/MP  has to remain confident with a leader (and never vote against them on leadership)  whether they are competent or incompetent is ridiculous.

The disastrous results for LNP in the VIC & QLD elections, has partly been attributed to Abbott's incompetency as a Leader. By members of his party as well as political commentators, the voters.....

We vote for a local member not for the PM, unless the party leader is the member for our electorate.

The winning party votes for the PM, not the constituents.

see, there was no challenge, Turnbull was just media speculation and one of those who said he would 'put up his hand if the seat was vacant"

Prime Minister Tony Abbott promised a second tax cut for small business, pledged the budget would put more money in families pockets and asked his MPs to stop leaking to the media during his post-spill speech in the Liberal party room.

abbott has already had party room leaks, I forgot about that
