Re: Update on my noisy neighbours/soundproofing windows

My sister told the neighbours to buy a citronella collar for their

incessantly barking dogs.  And blow me down, they did.  $100 or so

for one of them and they had 2 dogs -  but they sure do work

Re: Update on my noisy neighbours/soundproofing windows

I'll suggest that in the letter, but I fear it's going to have to go further, this dog is their baby and they have no problem with it barking. I have always found it annoying but it's gotten worse recently, the people split their block in half and built a new house closer to mine bringing the barking dog closer.

Re: Update on my noisy neighbours/soundproofing windows

Can't you switch yourself off from dogs barking yet Mugs?  I do it with our neighbours dog.  Red kelpie.  Other people ask me why it doesn't upset me but I don't even hear it.  Baloo even ignores it.

It's like living near a railway line.  You just don't hear the trains unless you are a bit highly strung.

This dog is impossible to ignore, I'm hard of hearing, we have to raise our voices just to have a conversation. And if it's been quiet for a bit and starts yapping all of a sudden it's completely irritating. All the hard work mums done to make her backyard lovely to sit in and you have to talk over the dog.
Apparently, when I wasn't home, my dog irritated one of my neighbours (the other 3 claimed not to hear a thing). Truthfully, I would rather have had a polite letter stating that my dog was annoying than a rather intimidating man screaming obscenities at me, frightening the life out of my friend's 4 year old daughter and breaking my bathroom window with a stone and a slingshot. My dog now spends most of her day inside on her bed, I thnk she probably prefers it that way.

Re: Update on my noisy neighbours/soundproofing windows

Welldone Happyroo.  That was going to be my next mode of attack, but I actually called the police last Friday afternoon (again).  It doesn't matter what time of the day they are playing the music, it is deemed innappropriate if you can hear it clearly inside your house.  They came (the police) at about 5.30 pm had a very stern word to the neighbours, not sure if they were fined or not (the fine is up to $600) and it has been quiet ever since.  There have been times they have been playing their music but it has been at a very reasonable level and not penetrating through my walls/windows.

So if they start up again I strongly reccommend you calling the police, they wont be fined straight away but it saves you having to suffer through the noise or approach them face to face 🙂
