My sister told the neighbours to buy a citronella collar for their
incessantly barking dogs. And blow me down, they did. $100 or so
for one of them and they had 2 dogs - but they sure do work

Can't you switch yourself off from dogs barking yet Mugs? I do it with our neighbours dog. Red kelpie. Other people ask me why it doesn't upset me but I don't even hear it. Baloo even ignores it.
It's like living near a railway line. You just don't hear the trains unless you are a bit highly strung.

Welldone Happyroo. That was going to be my next mode of attack, but I actually called the police last Friday afternoon (again). It doesn't matter what time of the day they are playing the music, it is deemed innappropriate if you can hear it clearly inside your house. They came (the police) at about 5.30 pm had a very stern word to the neighbours, not sure if they were fined or not (the fine is up to $600) and it has been quiet ever since. There have been times they have been playing their music but it has been at a very reasonable level and not penetrating through my walls/windows.
So if they start up again I strongly reccommend you calling the police, they wont be fined straight away but it saves you having to suffer through the noise or approach them face to face ๐
