Yeah! The little thingie just appeared down the bottom of the screen today.
Free, they say. Hubby is investigating. They don't do discs anymore.
Too many people doing illegal installs.
I'm on Windows 8. That was a download, not a disc
I reckon they'll get ya with "Oh you have to have this as well,
and it's only $100"
Along those lines, otherwise, what's in it for them?

They say that W10 emulates W7, so if you already have 7, stick with it. I have W8, but use the shell that makes it function like W7, and I'm going to have to be dragged kicking and screaming to W10.

If 7 works stay with what works. If your curious about 10, get a backup computer and try it.

Linux- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njos57IJf-0
.
Fun Factor : Now you have a choice in chat, factor that

Upgrades to Windows 10 will apparently be available from July 29th. I agree with the previous comments, if you are using Windows 7 (which I find very stable), I would wait a while, and see what sort of reaction and bug comments arise before updating. You apparently have a year to update for free, so there is no rush.

Running Win 7 but badly need a new laptop but am holding off as they all come with Win 8. I've heard classic shell will make it behave like Win 7, has anybody tried it?

Win 8.1 is ok. I like some of the features and user interface, especially the touch pad.
