from what i can gather all the lock outs and related cosmetic changes have done is reduce staff numbers and hours. it seems an anti-business knee-jerk reaction for the sake of populism. headlines defeat facts again.

Re: Violence and binge drinking on the decrease

depriving people of a nightlife is draconian.  an international city and its entertainment precinct is stymied because of a few high profile incidents.  we all need to stop driving now! people are killed on the roads after all.  we should ban lightning too, it kills more people than sharks could ever do.

Re: Violence and binge drinking on the decrease

hoping one of my or anyone else's  kids is injured is a problem alright.

all of this talk of 'king hits ' and 'coward punches' is hype anyway. i myself have been assaulted in this way a few times as a young Male . the violence is not new. it isn't as if the current generation of hoodlum is any more skilled than twenty or more years ago. its simply that the press chose to make it story of the month. this is reflected in statistics.  they want to make people angry and fearful and it appears to have succeeded.

what a terrible attitude by so many to the deaths and the injuries that are caused by booze    and how terrible the support of continuing this mentality   people are trying to stop the deaths and the what do we see here  people not supporting it and sre trying to stop it  and many of tyhese people are parents   my heart goes out to all the parents who have lost a child through the boozed up king hits

to me so many are happy to see people die from coward punches   has to make you wonder

wonder what their attitude would be if it happened to one of theire familyt members

Not a single person said they're happy to see anyone die from any sort of violence.

What I see are people having a discussion on an age old problem.

Most of the attacks in which people have been killed would not have been prevented by earlier closing times.  The most high profile ones have occured much earlier than 3 am.  When the footy club that I used to live near closed at midnight there'd be a mob of people outside waiting for taxis and fights were common because there were a mob of people angry about getting shut out "early".

Re: Violence and binge drinking on the decrease

How would you know who has a family member, relative or friend who's been attacked by some thug?

DOn't assume because people don't agree with you that they have not been affected by the problem.

Further, I'd prefer to blame the offenders rather than punish everyone.  Often the offenders are not even drunk. They might use the steroid type drugs or just be very angry people.

So you support 24 hour trading and the drunks and binge drinking  and COWARD punches and the damage that they do and the lives that they take... and you are saying that the OP supports this as well then?

and again the point you are trying to make is?

Or do you as has been implied in a post above  by lakeland27 and the fact you have made it green as the solution that you support 24 hour trading and the drunks and binge drinking  and COWARD punches and the damage that they do and the lives that they take...

where do you stand on the lockouts

where do you stand on attempts to curb the COWARD punches and the deaths

where do you stand on attempts to stop the violence

Please do tell us where you stand

A few.... more like a LOT and lots that have never been reported, Sadly you seem to be a supporter of drunks the violence and COWARD PUNCHES and the deaths and you make it seem so frivolous that in your words its... OOHhh yea so what a few people die or get permanent brain damage and a few people that did this end up in jail for life and the violence is all part of an urban city and should be allowed.....

I wonder how their parents and families would feel about your comments and attitude.....

I wish I was allowed to say in words on here just how much distaste  I feel for your callous comments but I will zip my lip and hold my fingers from typing any more....
