Political threads have their place in social media but I do not think 'Community Spirit' is the place.
The vitriol and nastiness some of these threads engender, leading to claims of interpersonal posts, removal of posts and frequent locking of threads all damage any Community Spirit which previously existed.
Freedom of speech is to be applauded but the current rash of political threads is 'infecting' the spirit of the Community Spirit board.
Does anyone agree with me?
Would anyone else be prepared to communicate with the moderators requesting consideration of this suggestion?
I have.

I would prefer all political threads to be moved as by now the hate and vitriol and endless c&p has infected the boards to the extent that all you get is snipes and reporting by the people who can't even construct an opinion of their own and finger wag and lecture with endless c&p.
The disgusting titles and diary posts that are only on here to divide and destroy any harmony the boards might have had is in the past.
I have posted on this subject before and I used to think that political threads have their place on here but not any more.
THe 3rd party petitions to whip up divisions and the c&p from fringe media is unacceptable imo.

You political chatters can have your own board to start thread after thread about politics. You can cut and paste till your hearts content and you wont have to deal with any of the non political threads.
Shoulod be a dream come true for some of you
Most don't start thread after thread.
Most are quite happy to chat on the first thread about a subject. For some bizarre reason though some would rather start multiple threads about the same topic. Like the budget for example and Shorten's reply.

I really cant see why those that like the political threads are up in arms about moving to a separate page for politics only. If you are truly passionate about politics you would go to that part and leave the CS for general topics.
Surely have a separate part for politics and going there, isnt that hard.

Do you feel that all of this is in The Community Spirit...Is everyone feeling welcome ?

and I can't understand why we can't just be left to discuss what ever it is we want to without criticism from others.

So much politics makes the board boring. No point commenting because nothings really up for discussion, questions or comments are just followed up by insults, put downs or irrelevant cut and pastes. That goes for posters on both sides of the political divide.
I dont know if it needs its own board, but keeping it out of other threads would be nice and making it obvious the thread is political in nature is good too. Although thats often easy enough to see by the id of the poster.
But I'm pretty sure we've been through this before and consideration of others isnt a high priority for some of the posters here.
